[As the morning rises on Friday, the house seems...quiet. Not quite eerie in the way that a murder might indicate, but there is a tension in the air. Something has happened overnight, but it's hard to tell exactly what.

To find out what is going on, the contestants will have to explore the area.]

[Honestly the books are probably the main thing here for Ingway- like hell he can manage the computer]

To begin with, the bookshelf is meticulously clean. Well-dusted, everything in order, you name it. Someone is taking good care of the books there, it seems.

But there is a section of books tucked away between two strange shelf markers, and they seem out of place compared to the rest. These are the titles of the books, in the order they're tucked away:

"Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone"
"Is it Wrong to Pick up Girls in a Dungeon?"
"Star Trek: the Novel"
"Nineteen Eighty-Four"
"Artemis Fowl"
"Mad Max: the Novel"
"Ender's Game"

Hm. There must be a reason they're arranged that way.]

Ah, there's that book Saki mentioned.

[The Harry Potter book, specifically But it was a series, wasn't it? So he looks at these specific books.

So What is Ingway going to do with this information?]

NO. THIS FUCKER NEVER HIDES HIS STUPID PAPERWORK ANYWAY.

[Not yet, seems to be the answer. He's still yeeting paperwork over here.]

Not yet... maybe it's the password for his computer? But it was logged in when I got here.

'Tis something to keep in mind, certainly. Something here says 'His Name' - if you find a name that stands out, tell me.

[He glances at the camera]

In my ear please, not aloud.

[No point hiding that they are snooping, but probably shouldn't yell secrets at the camera either]

[Just shoves on over after a while and then shows him this letter I guess. Still no idea what the password is for but at least they have that.]

Nice shit to just leave layin' around...

[After talking to the other two he goes back to snooping. What are these strange book ends?]

[They seem to be a different style than the other book ends, but that's more to draw attention to the books themselves. Likely to indicate to the clue.

But as Ingway looks at the bookshelves, he might also notice a familiar name written on a few books on the shelves. After all, Dazai Osamu was actually an author in this world.]

"His" name... Dazai was an author? I would think being a mafioso and agent wouldn't give one much time to write...

[GOD FINE I MEAN HE WAS GONNA ANYWAYS BUT COME ON HE CAN'T PICTURE DAZAI WRITING ANYTHING MORE DEEP THAN A BOOK REPORT]

[Well DOEZAI might not but

The book is "No Longer Human" by Dazai Osamu, but that's probably not important at the moment. What IS important, however, are the papers that slip out of the book.]

[Oh, that title is like a punch to the gut, huh?

He grabs the papers tho]

[It appears to be a bunch of notes on Dazai's mannerisms. It's like someone did an extreme character study on Dazai and made notes to keep track of how he acts.

The notes are mostly in one kind of handwriting, but another, much neater handwriting also pops up in some places. The nicer handwriting seems to be giving the messier handwriting some advice on how to improve the notes or be more accurate about the behaviors.]

[He has a few suspicions about who the nicer writing might be. He looks through all of them, speed reading what he can.

Both for clues but also... well, as a shapeshifter he appreciates these kinds of things]

[It's all character analysis to help John act more like Dazai.

Also there's a couple more books: "Dazai and the Dark Era", "Dazai and Chuuya, age 15", and "BEAST". All three are actually about Dazai, and contain notes written in the margins of the books. It seems like John did a lot of preparation to get ready for this. It's a pity he's not a better actor.]

I almost feel sorry for him. But I have to give him credit for this level of hard work.

[he just... gathers this all up. and the books. all the dazai ones.

...and Harry Potter too. Just all goes in his bag]

[As he packs up the books and notes, one last note falls out:]

You made fun of my 'fake name', but I had a good reason for picking it: it's the same as my actual name, so it's easy to remember.

[yep. Someone doesn't understand the point of fake names.]

[So his name really is John, not just 'John Doe'. Ingway smiles and tucks that away]
