Week 4, Friday

Another Thursday night comes, and everyone seems to know what that means. Even with the failure of last week, several people are out on patrol, trying to make sure no murders occur tonight. That motive had been tempting, after all, and keeping people in check when there's the promise of 'going home' on the line is difficult at best.

Moriarty, at least, seems intent on taking advantage of that motive. After slipping out of his room, he walks briskly towards the back yard. His intended target is out there, he knows it, and he wants to get this done quickly before anyone notices he's missing. The stipulation of 'don't get caught' has made this week's motive all the harder to obtain, and he has no intentions of letting anyone get the best of him.

However, Oda is not alone this week. Several people have decided to patrol with him, making for many witnesses to any possible crime. A fact that Moriarty sees instantly as soon as he steps outside.

For a moment, Oda and Moriarty's eyes meet. Oda frowns, because he can figure out exactly what Moriarty is doing out and about at this hour. But he can't say anything, not with the people around him. The goal is to avoid deaths, after all, and speaking up now will just result in Moriarty's death instead of his own. And since Oda won't attack with other people right there to get caught in a firefight and possibly die, he does nothing against this obvious threat.

Karen looks over the edge and sees Moriarty too. In turn, Moriarty smiles and waves up at the group, acting as if nothing bad had been about to happen. Karen waves in return, suspecting nothing. The exchange just makes Oda's frown deepen, but he still says nothing.

Then, once that pleasant exchange is made, Moriarty ducks back inside, heading back to his room before anyone can miss him.

The night passes with no deaths.

...Okay, well, he was tricked into receiving his powers. Whoever gave them to him told him and his friends that they could be heroes. He suspected the person, but he was still intrigued, so he went along with it anyway and got his friends involved.

It sounded like all of his friends got powers. A girl who could move quickly escaped, and a boy should have been fireproof, but he couldn't get a hold of him again, so he's not sure if he's still alive or not. The last remaining girl is the one who's in the Foundation with him, but he didn't mention anything about if she has powers.

The Foundation agent who found him gave him mercy and spared him... Karen and I wondered if that might have something to do with those "battles" we fight sometimes. He and his other friend in the Foundation went through a rigorous training that some people escaped from and others... disappeared from.

[And she can move again if someone else needs to talk.]

Did he tell you anything about the person that gave him his ability?

[ although she can't help but be curious about the mention of the Foundation agent.

hm. ]

[She frowns, trying to remember.]

That person... contacted him, I think. He said something weird about it, though...

[How did he put it?]

Something like... how he was caught in his web by getting to know him? And that the person promised him one thing, but gave him something else. His powers are a side effect of that.

Kyuubey can only be seen by young girls though.

Well, not literally Kyuubey, but someone like him. That was why he was so quick to support that interpretation of magical girls.

I doubt that the person who gave him his abilities was from this world to begin with, though.

People from this world aren't supposed to have abilities of any kind, right? So that makes sense.

I think I understand why he got involved in that anime argument. It's because he had a similar experience to those characters.

[He's not being dismissive of it, at least, even if he is a little impatient about it. A lot of this is in bits and pieces, but there's at least some new stuff in there that he can pick at.]

So they just got totally scammed by some random guy, an' what was that about the battles?

It was just odd how he said "showed me mercy." That's one of the options when we get into those weird... video game-like fights.

Yeah? I've never seen that option in any other videogame so I'm pretty sure it's some kinda cheat option?? Besides, why the hell would there be a videogame fight where some Foundation guy showed Dazai mercy??

[He suddenly sounds intrigued.]

If we video game fight him, we should choose mercy.

Hmph. Pretty sure about 30 people would mash Mercy before we even had the chance to think about trying a Check or anything.
