Week 4, Friday

Another Thursday night comes, and everyone seems to know what that means. Even with the failure of last week, several people are out on patrol, trying to make sure no murders occur tonight. That motive had been tempting, after all, and keeping people in check when there's the promise of 'going home' on the line is difficult at best.

Moriarty, at least, seems intent on taking advantage of that motive. After slipping out of his room, he walks briskly towards the back yard. His intended target is out there, he knows it, and he wants to get this done quickly before anyone notices he's missing. The stipulation of 'don't get caught' has made this week's motive all the harder to obtain, and he has no intentions of letting anyone get the best of him.

However, Oda is not alone this week. Several people have decided to patrol with him, making for many witnesses to any possible crime. A fact that Moriarty sees instantly as soon as he steps outside.

For a moment, Oda and Moriarty's eyes meet. Oda frowns, because he can figure out exactly what Moriarty is doing out and about at this hour. But he can't say anything, not with the people around him. The goal is to avoid deaths, after all, and speaking up now will just result in Moriarty's death instead of his own. And since Oda won't attack with other people right there to get caught in a firefight and possibly die, he does nothing against this obvious threat.

Karen looks over the edge and sees Moriarty too. In turn, Moriarty smiles and waves up at the group, acting as if nothing bad had been about to happen. Karen waves in return, suspecting nothing. The exchange just makes Oda's frown deepen, but he still says nothing.

Then, once that pleasant exchange is made, Moriarty ducks back inside, heading back to his room before anyone can miss him.

The night passes with no deaths.

[ He tried. Letting go of Nora to move between Akira and the two idiots on the ground. ]

We keep ending up like this.

[ He'll point a thumb behind him. ]

That one is mine.

[ He means Nora ]

Then keep your mutt on a leash, Van.

[The worst part is that there isn't even any venom to the words. They're just a statement.]

[ If Akira let's him, he's moving closer to tap his shoulder with his knuckles. Go ahead and keep that gun up to press against him. ]

Do I need to leash you, too?

[ Searching his eyes for a moment. How u doin, Akira ]

[overconfidant]

[Akira lets him, and nah, he clicks the safety back on the gun and points it at the ceiling.

There's still nothing in the eyes Vanitas is searching, which probably means he's doing Really Bad.]

Sorry, Van, I'm just not ready to introduce that level of kink to our relationship.

[ He still has his humor.

There's a beat as he moves his hand to tap his cheek next. ]

Don't break.

[ Then he'll move away to grab Nora. Time to get out of here unless you want apprentice teacher feelings on you, Nora. ]

[There's a lot of yelling in the background while this is happening, honestly, but it's mostly easy to ignore (Not yours and NOT A FUCKING MUTT are the gist of it, the usual Nora railing about things, though he's stiffened and kept a weather eye on Akira and his gun the whole time here), and he's pretty much side-eyeing Akira the whole time.

He doesn't trust the guy whatsoever, which is funny because he probably keeps company with even more dubious or at least more murderous people, but the look in Akira's eye is uncanny and also -- also yeah, he's not here for getting apprentice teacher feelings all over the place.

All the same, it takes a moment to budge him. He looks quickly between Akira and Vanitas and frowns ferociously (it's an expression he's worn often enough dealing with Vanitas, honestly) before letting himself be moved.]

... Hmph. Next time this damn old man does stupid shit I ain't going to let it go, mark my words--

[He's busy giving both Moriarty and Akira the evil eye as he's dragged away.......]
