Week 4, Friday
Another Thursday night comes, and everyone seems to know what that means. Even with the failure of last week, several people are out on patrol, trying to make sure no murders occur tonight. That motive had been tempting, after all, and keeping people in check when there's the promise of 'going home' on the line is difficult at best.
Moriarty, at least, seems intent on taking advantage of that motive. After slipping out of his room, he walks briskly towards the back yard. His intended target is out there, he knows it, and he wants to get this done quickly before anyone notices he's missing. The stipulation of 'don't get caught' has made this week's motive all the harder to obtain, and he has no intentions of letting anyone get the best of him.
However, Oda is not alone this week. Several people have decided to patrol with him, making for many witnesses to any possible crime. A fact that Moriarty sees instantly as soon as he steps outside.
For a moment, Oda and Moriarty's eyes meet. Oda frowns, because he can figure out exactly what Moriarty is doing out and about at this hour. But he can't say anything, not with the people around him. The goal is to avoid deaths, after all, and speaking up now will just result in Moriarty's death instead of his own. And since Oda won't attack with other people right there to get caught in a firefight and possibly die, he does nothing against this obvious threat.
Karen looks over the edge and sees Moriarty too. In turn, Moriarty smiles and waves up at the group, acting as if nothing bad had been about to happen. Karen waves in return, suspecting nothing. The exchange just makes Oda's frown deepen, but he still says nothing.
Then, once that pleasant exchange is made, Moriarty ducks back inside, heading back to his room before anyone can miss him.
The night passes with no deaths.

[For a moment - there's a genuine look of anguish on his face as she says that, before he manages to rein it in and give a distinctly wounded smile.]
...I won't, to the best of my ability. You - have my word, Azura.
...Forgive me.

My blood father was murdered when I was a little girl. I barely remember him at this point.
[ tears well up in her eyes, and she makes no motion to wipe them away ]
So please keep this promise--I know, I know you're a "villain", you're a criminal, but, please keep your word as an act of mercy for me. [ for Akira, for Goro, wherever he is ] I can't--I can't see you be killed.
[ her shoulders shake, and her voice cracks a little ]
I can forgive you, but please...I'm begging you...please stop being so reckless, Father.

He suddenly closes his eyes, pain on his face evident - more than he would normally show - as he walks over and then just -
hugs her, pressing his hand to the back of her head.]
....I promise, Azura. I won't be reckless - not anymore.
...I'm sorry. I'm so sorry, so please - don't cry.

She can't say much else now. She just wraps her arms around him and buries her face in his shoulder because the last time her dad hugged her was the day he died and she can't take this, she really can't take this-- ]
no subject
Ah, what a fool he's been, hasn't he?
He was so sure, then. So sure that what he was doing, what he had planned - that it was the only way.]

Right. They're all gone. All of them. Her father, her mother, her surrogate mother, but the person in front of her--
--is still here. ]
Thank you.
[ Her voice comes out muffled and hoarse, but sincere. ]
....is it strange? For me to call you that? [ "Father"
it just sorta popped out but she feels like it fits. Just looking at him, Moriarty is definitely the dadly-type. ]

[It makes him feel -
like a Human. Like a normal, everyday, decent human being. Like someone who isn't wrapped up in all the bullshit that comes with being a Heroic Spirit, or even his own origins.
He continues to hold her, as if he's afraid to let go.]
...You can call me that as much as you like. And I - will answer to it. And to you.
