Week 3, Saturday

[foundationmods]

This time, when everyone files into the studio, they aren't escorted to their seats. Instead, they are sent to podiums up on the stage arrange in a semi-circle. Everyone can see each other, and everyone is also visible to the cameras. Off to stage right is a jury box with 12 prinnies in it, all in various states of 'fancy dress'. One is wearing a suit top, another a blouse, one a huge Colonial-era wig. To stage left at box 0 is Dazai's seat, where he will be spending most of the trial, but he will get up to move around at times. And in the very center is a picture of Aqua. Once everyone is in their spots, one of the prinnies will hit a gavel against the podium in front of it, signaling the start of the trial.

It's time to find Aqua's killer.

[The look he gives is - sharp, and also one that in the past, Silver hoped to never see aimed at him.]

Will you lie down and die like a dog, because of this?! Are you that far gone into despair that you no longer wish to try?!

But I know a losing fight when I see one...! This whole thing is just a farce, isn't it?! It was never something we could win unless we pulled off a miracle! And we didn't. That stupid angel killed someone, and now every single person brought into this world against their will is going to suffer for it!

[apparently when Silver falls into despair he falls... PRETTY HARD]

[He doesn't yell it at the top of his lungs - but he does go over and grab Silver by the shoulders.]

We are still being watched! Do you truly believe - that after this [wildly gesturing to the whole of the trial] that we have no hope? That even though we failed to prevent a murder, even if we fight, we are still trying to find the truth no matter how painful it ultimately is - are you saying that's worthless?!

I have faced a losing battle before, and this is not it!

[Silver has been floating above his podium, though whether he's aware of that fact or not is up for debate. He's still easily within reach to be grabbed, though, and it seems the touch is enough to just...

make him slump completely.

The stress of the week, this trial, the impending doom of not only his own death but everyone else, the guilt of failing...

It's too much to take, and Silver breaks down, sobbing]

[Silver is floating above his podium, wound up as he is -- he didn't even notice. But then his face falls, and he does too, collapsing in a heap behind the podium]

But I don't know it either... I hate.... this... just let us go..... I want to go home....

[Atsushi is right next to silver, and he kneels next to him, resting a hand on his head to gently stroke his fur (careful of the spines, of course).]

...It's not over, Silver. Maybe, if we get through this and convince them... maybe we can go home.

Well, amazingly, the right answer here was to not kill someone!!

[He grits his teeth at the first part, listening with a grim expression. But at that last part, a sharp light flickers in his eyes and something gets set off.]

You... what the hell do you know!? The last time I stood by and watched, I had to see him die in my arms! Because I refused to see what was in front of me! Because I ignored everything and anything around me, complacent in the idea that he was absolute and untouchable!

[He takes a breath.]

I refused. I refused to make the same mistake again.

You're right!! I don't know anything! Because everyone keeps everything so close to their chests! How is anyone supposed to know that you already had to watch your friend die? It hurts, and it sucks!! But this...

Whatever's right or wrong... that doesn't matter to me. Even if I'm cursed or hated for this doesn't matter to me either. If I could just give him a chance...

[Silver's lost all his anger, by now, and he just looks at Sandalphon with sad eyes]
