Week 3, Saturday

This time, when everyone files into the studio, they aren't escorted to their seats. Instead, they are sent to podiums up on the stage arrange in a semi-circle. Everyone can see each other, and everyone is also visible to the cameras. Off to stage right is a jury box with 12 prinnies in it, all in various states of 'fancy dress'. One is wearing a suit top, another a blouse, one a huge Colonial-era wig. To stage left at box 0 is Dazai's seat, where he will be spending most of the trial, but he will get up to move around at times. And in the very center is a picture of Aqua. Once everyone is in their spots, one of the prinnies will hit a gavel against the podium in front of it, signaling the start of the trial.

It's time to find Aqua's killer.

I don’t know. Maybe. It’s not an uncommon thing for two or more people to work together to bring someone down. Especially if Aqua is as strong as people said.

Then... what would their roles have been?

Probably... one person was responsible for taking Aqua’s life and the other helped hide the body.

[ he grimaces. ]

This is all hypothetical, though. I could be wrong.

The person who killed her dragged her outside and then the accomplice was the one who carried her onto the roof?

the killer could have been someone who didn't have an ability to carry them up there? ]

...Maybe, yeah.

[ he sighs. ]

You guys said she drank the antifreeze tea, right? It just didn’t kill her like the culprit thought it would so they chose to go with plan b.

Yeah.

I think the culprit is someone who didn't know what the antifreeze did. So that would at least rule out myself and Ingway. Ingway because he's familiar with chemicals and would have probably went with something different and myself since I actually spoke a little bit on antifreeze yesterday.

You know a lot of trivia, huh?

[ just a random comment. oda looks down, thinking. ]

Killing with poison—[ there’s a pained expression on his face, the memory of mitsuru’s death still fresh in his mind. ] ...it’s not always that convenient. They probably got inspired from...what happened on Wednesday.

For better or for worse, I know a lot of weird knowledge. Not to mention that I've been studying after what happened in the Hotel about a lot of things.

[ mostly medical knowledge but other stuff as well. because doctors!!! keep! dying! ]

Yeah, it definitely isn't. Also I wouldn't doubt that. A lot of the recent games had poison--

[ vague reminder: she almost died to poison ]

-- so both Wednesday and last Saturday might have left an impact on their minds.

They probably thought that it was gonna be quick. Maybe they wanted to show her some sort of mercy by doing so.

I still think it's dumb to think they don't know antifreeze just 'cause. How long've we all been in this stupid world again??

Maybe they were desperate, then. Didn’t bother looking for books on stuff like that.

[He grumbles briefly because there's talk about Wednesday poisonings and that's awkward.]

And they planned out the whole damn thing in one day... Why Aqua, even?? Just grabbing a person at random or what...

[odasaku]

I don’t know.

[ he shrugs ]

Maybe it was someone she thought she was close to? Since they did have tea together. But I don’t know how trusting she was. Maybe she would have tea with anyone.

I asked Vanitas and he said she'd have tea with anybody except the shady people!

[So probably both of them count as shady people, huh...]

...we must also remember the possibility that Aqua knew about the poison. If she didn't fight back.

Are you implying that she let herself get killed?

I'm implying that there's no rule against it.

Vanitas did say she would die to protect her friends, didn't he? [it's a hard pill to swallow, but...]

What if she... and whoever killed her.... what if Aqua was in on it?

I was once told coffee and tea are how humans make time to talk with each other. In other words, a bonding experience between two others.

Indeed! Sharing tea with another is a grand way to do just that - especially if your fellow partaker is a good conversationalist.

Hmph. Maybe not everything about it, but it totally comes up on TV commercials and stuff, too.
