WEEK 1 MINGLE

As dawn approaches on Monday, the contestants are greeted to a beautiful, sunny day. It's the first full week of their time in the house, and after the rather troubling introduction on Saturday it's hard to know just what to expect

For the first week, the surrounding area seems quiet and peaceful. The weather stays a nice 75 degrees during the day, and it dips down to the 50s at night. Comfortable, and without any real disturbances from nature or house. It's almost as if the whole weekend was just a bad dream, and maybe the actual game won't be as bad as Dazai made it out to me.

However, those rules and profiles are still hanging in the living room, a constant reminder of the warnings that have been given. What will happen now? There haven't been any deaths at this containment site in years, but will that change with these new rules? Only time will tell.

Perhaps it's a good idea to enjoy this first week. Go swimming, watch a movie, or just hang out together and get to know each other better. You never know, this might be the last time to see some of the contestants.

I don't think defeatism is a good trait to take for yourself, Dazai.

Why not? It's very rooted in reality.

No, it's not.

Defeatism is assuming there can't be any change, but no matter what, change is inevitable. There are too many unknown factors to assume the situation will still be exactly the same no matter what you do. For all you know, there could be a surprise change in circumstances that forces everyone to adapt to a completely different lifestyle.

I suppose you think a change like that will happen during this game, Saki-san?

I've never been good at waiting for things to change on their own.

[Dazai sounds thoughtful as he hums, but he leaves it at that for now.]
