WEEK 1 MINGLE

As dawn approaches on Monday, the contestants are greeted to a beautiful, sunny day. It's the first full week of their time in the house, and after the rather troubling introduction on Saturday it's hard to know just what to expect

For the first week, the surrounding area seems quiet and peaceful. The weather stays a nice 75 degrees during the day, and it dips down to the 50s at night. Comfortable, and without any real disturbances from nature or house. It's almost as if the whole weekend was just a bad dream, and maybe the actual game won't be as bad as Dazai made it out to me.

However, those rules and profiles are still hanging in the living room, a constant reminder of the warnings that have been given. What will happen now? There haven't been any deaths at this containment site in years, but will that change with these new rules? Only time will tell.

Perhaps it's a good idea to enjoy this first week. Go swimming, watch a movie, or just hang out together and get to know each other better. You never know, this might be the last time to see some of the contestants.

Look, they're just gonna keep throwing bullshit "motives" at us until they hit on something that works, yeah? It doesn't matter if they can back it up, they're tryin' to get inside our heads.

So what are we gonna do about it? You can't just say "I won't let their bullshit get to me", you know? Everybody's got a breaking point, right? We just gonna assume they can't actually give us anything they're offering, or what?

Teamwork.

[...she says, as if this was a full and complete explanation.]

Look, "teamwork" is a shit reason.

It's not the reason, it's the method. There's nothing that will work on everyone, so it's a matter of looking out for each other and not leaving anyone to face temptation alone.

That's never gonna work. People won't cooperate like you think they will.

That's true, but they can only do it for so long. It's not as if the game lasts forever. Not to mention that the point is that "nobody has to die".

Sure, people have their breaking points and we can't just assume each and every time that they can't give us stuff. Because maybe there'll be one that they can actually offer, you know. Doesn't mean that we can't circumvent stuff, or at least put in some effort into doing it.

So, no. I'm not going to say that I won't let their crap get to me. Because it can and it will. Hell, I'm not the one with all the answers either! But I think that getting rid of the idea of 'teams' that they want us to think about in the first place.

And working together.

It's too early to decide to get rid of the teams, yeah? We don't know what they're gonna do with them, or if they're gonna be important.

Well, I doubt they'd get rid of them on paper, but I honestly don't think they're going to matter in the long run.

Yeah? You been through this kinda thing before? How the fuck would you know what's going to happen?

I was in a mafia game where we wound up teaming up with the mafia in the end. So. Yes.

That's different, see? That's teaming up with your enemy because somebody else pissed you both off.

The situation was similar, though. And it wasn't as if we were really enemies.

Yeah, and we aren't this time either. It's harder to get people to work together if their goals are slightly different than if they're on opposite sides.
