As dawn approaches on Monday, the contestants are greeted to a beautiful, sunny day. It's the first full week of their time in the house, and after the rather troubling introduction on Saturday it's hard to know just what to expect

For the first week, the surrounding area seems quiet and peaceful. The weather stays a nice 75 degrees during the day, and it dips down to the 50s at night. Comfortable, and without any real disturbances from nature or house. It's almost as if the whole weekend was just a bad dream, and maybe the actual game won't be as bad as Dazai made it out to me.

However, those rules and profiles are still hanging in the living room, a constant reminder of the warnings that have been given. What will happen now? There haven't been any deaths at this containment site in years, but will that change with these new rules? Only time will tell.

Perhaps it's a good idea to enjoy this first week. Go swimming, watch a movie, or just hang out together and get to know each other better. You never know, this might be the last time to see some of the contestants.

I see...a burrito with chicken, lettuce, and cheese. Is that enough information for you to decide?

Almost. [ She's smiling a little sheepishly. ] What's in the sandwich in this hypothetical situation?

The same, the only difference is that the sandwich is held together by bread, and the burrito by a tortilla.

[ The meat lasagna seems to be popular, he will remember this for next time. ]

...Oh, I see.

[ ... ]

Well, I think I'd consider a burrito a sandwich in that case. They're not completely the same, but at the heart of it, they're not really all that different. So I think anyone could get away with saying so.

Would your answer differ if the contents of the sandwich or burrito changed? What if the burrito had rice and the sandwich had salsa?

[ Her brows furrow. ]

Well, sandwiches can still have salsa in them and be something that's still similar to a burrito and still be a sandwich. But, I can't say a burrito full of rice would be something I could easily think of as a sandwich.

[ She seems to at least find this line of discussion intriguing. ]

What brought this question on?

I'll have to take full advantage of this time and explore the bowels of human cuisine fully... [ And learn how to describe food better too, because Alcor plz. He's a bit lost in thought, and he pops his gaze back up to her after he realizes she's asked him a question. ]

While considering what would be necessary to make the perfect mushroom burger, one that could substitute for a beef—I found myself wondering: what defines a burger? A patty between two buns is the simple explanation, but that led me to consider a sandwich which is meat and toppings between two pieces of bread. Both are normally eaten with their hands, but so are burritos and a wrap is similar to bread in that is made of wheat and carbohydrates which encircle other ingredients.

The more I thought about it, the more I realized that even simple foods aren't simple at all.

[ ...She can't help but laugh - it's brief as it is, but it still quantifies as such. It almost surprises herself; Aqua has shared less and less moments since her time in the Foundation. ]

I forgot that you seem to question things like these so often. Not that I think it's a bad thing, but...it always feels refreshing somehow.

[ Alcor looks genuinely surprised to hear her laugh, but it rolls reflexively into a warm smile. ]

Refreshing? Like an ice cold beverage on a summer day? [ Going by his tone he's being silly here. ]

I have never been described that way before.

Well, there's a first time for everything, right?

[ If he starts quoting other advertisements like he just did with Coke it's Aqua's fault. ]

Yes. Even after all this time, humans continue to amaze me. Truly you are capable of infinite growth and potential.

...You know, I believe you're probably in the minority in thinking that honestly. I don't find any issue with it, but I've always figured it was a unique perspective, considering everything.

...am I? [ That catches him off guard, and he brings his hand to his mouth, a shy gesture. ]

By everything you mean—?

Yes, I believe so.

[ Based upon the many worlds she's been to due to the missions and viewpoints of others' she's heard and known. She's watching the gesture curiously, smiling slightly. ]

I've heard a lot of the faults of humanity and all of that, but I can't ever think of very many instances where anyone would praise humans. It's just been the way it is, I suppose.

[ He honestly looks sad here, head falling to the side. ]

And what do you think of humanity, Aqua?

[ Oh no... ]

I'm...not honestly sure. I haven't really given it much thought, as strange as that might be.

But, I don't think we're the worst, or that we're as bad as others think that we are. We have a lot of room to grow, but that goes for just about everyone, I think.

When I came here I wondered many things, but one was more important than the rest. In this world, in this universe: would there be humans who could shine and lead the way to a new world?

[ ... ]

Believing what you do, with how others may think, will you continue to move forward?

I will.

Regardless of what others may think or the challenges we will or will not face, I can't give up. Not here, not now.

[ He's silent for a while but then he smiles, softer than anything she's seen so far. ]

You choose life and survival. I wonder what light your conviction will cast, what shadows it will unearth. I'll be watching, Aqua.
