[Shadow immediately gets his inhibitor rings back from Watanuki before collapsing. He lies face up with his eyes closed and his wings spread, nonresponsive. A green emerald is in his hand. There is a golden glow coming from inside his body, and it hangs around his chest -- then it starts moving down his arms and legs. The rings glow brightly for a moment, then the glow vanishes.

He lies there for a long moment before his eyes snap open and he sits straight up like a shot. And if you happen to be standing over him, you get a heck of a headbutt]

[ Him and Anon landed in a pile (+ Sakura), but once he sees that the infernal is okay, Shadow is his next priority. So he's totally going to come over and crouch by the hedgehog watching all this glowy stuff happening.

...which means yes he's getting one hell of a headbutt. He doesn't actually move too much though? And he feels pretty solid despite his noodle status. ]

Hngh. Do you always wake up like this? [ His tone is way too light to be properly grumpy. ]

[Shadow groans and holds his head]

Hnnngggghhhhhrr... Koide. Sorry... No, not usually. But I kind of overdid it back there.

...I think I should be saying sorry back. [ Cause yeah hitting him probably isn't fun either. ]

I noticed, but it's what we needed. [ Universal headtilt for "are you okay?" he's still opposed to asking things out loud like this, ok. ]

[Shadow taps his own noggin] Your head's pretty hard, kid.

I'm glad I was able to retrieve that emerald, I might not have been able to hold him with Chaos Control without it. He's very powerful. [Shadow looks down at his inhibitor rings and rubs one of them] I should recover. I was able to siphon off the excess Chaos energy in time.

[ A somewhat amused and embarrassed huff. ]

...excess chaos energy. Is that like feedback? [ What is this magical stuff. ]

[chaoscontrol]

... Sort of. My body and powers run on Chaos energy, the entropy of the universe. In my world, that power is crystallized into seven gems like these [he lets Natsuno hold the green emerald if he wants -- the power thrumming through it is tremendous, but contained] ... and a controller, called the Master Emerald. I naturally collect and store it. But without my inhibitors, I have no way to dispel it... [Shadow hums thoughtfully, then comes up with an apt metaphor] Like a combustion engine without its coolant and radiator, I, too, would burn out without them.

[ !! He will totally take the green gem and stare at it, watching the way the light reflects off its many facets. The energy running through it is interesting too and like nothing he's ever seen before. ]

You overheat. Should I carry you to the onsen? [ That is clearly a joke judging by his expression, even if the delivery is deadpan. Also there may not be an onsen here :<. In contrast to the rest, he gestures with his wing—he'll totally give you a ride if you want dad, just don't call him out on it. ]

[yeah it's pretty rare to see such a pure gem the size of you friggin' fist, incredible cosmic powers or not.

Shadow just sort of chuckles at the joke and finally stands up, brushing himself off and dispelling his wings] Like I said, I'll be alright. [he takes a moment to look around] .. I thought Sakura was staying behind?

[ And it's all shiny too. He shrugs at the question, looking at the rest of the group for likely the first time. ]

No idea. She landed on top of Anon and said something, but I wasn't paying attention. [ He was busy for obvious reasons. ]

Probably better for [ A pause. ] Kimi-nii anyway.

[Shadow will take the emerald back now, and he puts it... somewhere. then he looks around again. Sakura, Anon, Natsuno, Emi, and a few people he doesn't recognize...]

Kimi-nii? [Shadow tilts his head] You gave Kimihiro a new nickname?

[ Dimensional Fur Pocket. ]


...he told me to call him that. [ Looking away, a tad flustered. ]

[excellent, yes. that.]

... It's a cute name.

It's a shortening of his first name and the honorific for brother. [ Explaining it because what else is he supposed to do here. Also he may be allergic to the word cute. ]

Honorific... like "san" and "sama" and the like? [he taps his chin] Those are of japanese origin, yes?

Yeah, we're both Japanese. I don't use honorifics too much anymore, though.

[ It's a distinctive post Foundation change because he was pretty good at using them before. But when you're away from society you can relax a lil. ]

[Shadow nods] So you think of Kimihiro as a brother then? Ha. [he gives an open-palmed shrug] What a strange little family we are...

[ Making a face here. ]

I guess? He asked me to call him that so I did. [ This definitely requires reading between the lines here, but it's the best you're going to get with Natsuno. There isn't a bond like there is between Shadow, Anon, and maybe even Riku but there's something there.

He adds after, mumbled. ]

Better than my old family anyway.

[it's cute, Natsuno. Just accept your cute life. Shadow just chuckles in response]

[Anon is absolutely going to come rubberneck, because of course he is. He probably didn't pay attention to the entire process of Shadow flopping around and inhibitor ringing himself or whatever, but he definitely saw enough of that and during the fight, too. So:]

Hey, hey, that was totally a Chaos Emerald, wasn't it? That was my first time seeing one in person!

If you can do that crazy stuff with just one, I bet you could obliterate the clown guy if you had seven!

[This seems like a good plan, like, immediately?]

[not who he wanted to see as he woke up but fiiiiiinnneeeee]

Yes. That is a Chaos Emerald. I liberated it from Foundation custody. [Shadow tosses the emerald up and down]

... I mean, that is a thought. I worry that he would have a way to block the Chaos Energy.

[anonnomnomnom]

[But how many people does he really want to see when he wakes up, this was always a crapshoot considering the current state of the shop population. Anon contemplates the jewel with keen curiosity, though he doesn't move to approach or touch it at the moment.]

I can't believe the Foundation just had it sitting around like that. Maybe I should have broken into a few of their vaults too, I bet there's all kinds of treasures in there!

[He's a treasure hunter now too, after all. All the same, he doesn't seem especially regretful about it -- he's not an especially materialistic guy or anything, it's just the island ate all his possessions and Watanuki is a hoarder.]

Heheh, he didn't have a way to block the Chaos Energy just now, though, did he? And he doesn't have an Emerald to experiment on anymore. Just as long as you and Watanuki don't drag your feet too much, I bet you could ambush that guy.

[He's very much into ambushing that guy. ☆]
