TRIAL

It's been a long night, with the knowledge burning in your brain that one of your number has died. Even if the victim wasn't known very well, this dangerous game of Mafia was still played, and that might be the worst of all. Not only that, but the Apprentice's warning still rings heavy in your minds - especially after seeing the state of Szayel's body.

The Lady appears for once when everyone is gathered, leading you all up the stairs to the third floor, past whatever glimpses of the upper floors you might get. The room she takes you to is, frankly, extravagant. There's snacks and drinks waiting inside, along with....a new person? It's a man, and as The Lady leaves and closes the doors behind her, the man tilts his head up and speaks.

"You can call me The Captain. Since one of you have died during the game, it's your responsibility to try and vote someone out. You have six hours to talk about it, but then-"

He taps on a box on the table in front of him, labeled 'VOTES'

"-you'll have to put in your vote so someone can be punished. Not voting, well...That's a lot like not playing. And trust me - you want to play."

The man sits down at the table, leaning back and placing his feet on the table while crossing his arms.

"So get to it."

As he says that, music begins to play in the room...

He's right. If we come to a stalemate, as stated earlier, someone random will die.

As much as I dislike it, it's better to take our chances by voting for one person. Unless someone has a better plan.

We need to hold off on Snake. For all we know, he could be an important town member. It would do more harm than good to vote for him right now, while we don't know anything. I'm willing to take that risk for now.

... So how exactly does refusing to let me volunteer help your case?

I have to agree with her. I dunno who you're all votin' for, but I sure am not votin' for Snake.

[he's firm about that. he doesn't want to give up on finding Jorogumo]

I agree with you, but we're running out of time here. If we don't do something, we'll all suffer for it.

[purrtagonist]

[rakes both hands through his hair, rocking back on his heels]

Do you have any suspicions whatsoever, Ripley-san?

[blutsauger]

I think we're nearly out of time for trying, my friend. At this point we should be more focused on surviving, and then try to hunt down this killer before they strike again.

Unless you have any miracles up your sleeve, of course.

[purrtagonist]

[balling his hands into fists at his sides, knuckles white]

We lure them out.

[wrongtiming]

I mean, obviously, but don’t you think we should have a backup plan?

[For when they Fail.]

[purrtagonist]

We keep trying. If trying to figure things out logically doesn't work, then we lure them out. We set traps. We do something!

[xenoqueen]

[There's a long pause.]

I don't know.

[wrongtiming]

[He rakes a hand through his hair, giving a frustrated sigh.]

This is bullshit.

[xenoqueen]

I know, I know, we just... [She lets out a frustrated noise.] We need time. And we don't have that time.

[wrongtiming]

So what are we supposed to do?

[It's an honest question - he's looking to her for guidance.]

[xenoqueen]

Unfortunately, in these circumstances, and with the information we've been given, we can't draw and solid conclusions. Therefore, we need to keep an eye out for anything out of the ordinary, other than what we've seen so far.

[Her voice is cold and authoritative--a way to calm herself down, as well as other people.]

But that doesn't mean we shouldn't trust each other. Paranoia will do nothing but make us easier targets. If we want to find out who's not human, we'll need to work together. [A pause.] Contradictory, huh?
