TRIAL

It's been a long night, with the knowledge burning in your brain that one of your number has died. Even if the victim wasn't known very well, this dangerous game of Mafia was still played, and that might be the worst of all. Not only that, but the Apprentice's warning still rings heavy in your minds - especially after seeing the state of Szayel's body.

The Lady appears for once when everyone is gathered, leading you all up the stairs to the third floor, past whatever glimpses of the upper floors you might get. The room she takes you to is, frankly, extravagant. There's snacks and drinks waiting inside, along with....a new person? It's a man, and as The Lady leaves and closes the doors behind her, the man tilts his head up and speaks.

"You can call me The Captain. Since one of you have died during the game, it's your responsibility to try and vote someone out. You have six hours to talk about it, but then-"

He taps on a box on the table in front of him, labeled 'VOTES'

"-you'll have to put in your vote so someone can be punished. Not voting, well...That's a lot like not playing. And trust me - you want to play."

The man sits down at the table, leaning back and placing his feet on the table while crossing his arms.

"So get to it."

As he says that, music begins to play in the room...

[Ripley doesn't seem to have slept well at all. Her hair is frazzled more than usual, and there are bags under her eyes. Nevertheless, her expression and voice does nothing to betray anything except cold professionalism.]

Right. Let's get to business. Szayel was found in the Courtyard, wrapped in a...sort of cocoon of gold thread. I inspected his body, and it looked as if he'd been completely drained of...whatever fluids. There was a mark on his neck that resembled...something that looked like a spider bite, almost.

[A pause.]

There were footprints in the snow some distance away from the body--Szayel's, I think, that made it look as if he'd been dragged through the air. I saw some golden thread up in a tree nearby. Anyone else have anything to add?

I don't know how useful it is, but... I was stuck in my room yesterday morning. The others tell me there was spiderweb over the door?

I talked to the Apprentice and he said that when it's not possessing people, one of the monsters looks like a large, black wolf. Based on what happened, he assumes one looks like a spider, but he has no idea what the third one looks like.

As mentioned, our fucking gold spider also completely webbed Yoshi into his room - door couldn't be opened from inside.

The thread is resistant to pretty much everything but water and it's extremely sticky, so just... don't touch that. Ever.

I'd been planning on staying up all night, but fell asleep around midnight. I'm guessing something similar happened to everyone else?

The Staff or whoever is making sure the crimes don't get disrupted.

...I spoke to the Apprentice, as well. He mentioned the spider being called...something called a Jorogumo?

That's what it looks like, that's for sure. [She bites her bottom lip.] The Apprentice mentioned that the spider can disguise itself as a human, so...realistically, anyone here could be a suspect.
