TRIAL

It's been a long night, with the knowledge burning in your brain that one of your number has died. Even if the victim wasn't known very well, this dangerous game of Mafia was still played, and that might be the worst of all. Not only that, but the Apprentice's warning still rings heavy in your minds - especially after seeing the state of Szayel's body.

The Lady appears for once when everyone is gathered, leading you all up the stairs to the third floor, past whatever glimpses of the upper floors you might get. The room she takes you to is, frankly, extravagant. There's snacks and drinks waiting inside, along with....a new person? It's a man, and as The Lady leaves and closes the doors behind her, the man tilts his head up and speaks.

"You can call me The Captain. Since one of you have died during the game, it's your responsibility to try and vote someone out. You have six hours to talk about it, but then-"

He taps on a box on the table in front of him, labeled 'VOTES'

"-you'll have to put in your vote so someone can be punished. Not voting, well...That's a lot like not playing. And trust me - you want to play."

The man sits down at the table, leaning back and placing his feet on the table while crossing his arms.

"So get to it."

As he says that, music begins to play in the room...

But don't the doors open in towards the room?

What was to stop Nanase-san from going into his room, and then leaving a web on the doorway, and shutting the door behind him?

...but why would he do something like that? That doesn't sound like it makes sense.

Well, it sounds like an airtight alibi until you consider that, doesn't it?

If any webbing gets caught between the door and the doorframe then the gig's up. We'd know something's off.

[True, they can't have a rebuttal for that, but...it's something to remember in the future]

Actually, I'll counter it.

Even if the door opened inward, he would have to be trapped before the victim was murdered, right? The Captain said that Granz was killed at two in the morning while Nanase was trapped in his room before that.

Did he specifically say that Nanase-san was trapped or that his room was blocked?

Well, the question that was answered dealt with "trapped", specifically, since that's the wording that Kurusu used to ask it.

[He hadn't considered that.]

I suppose you're right there.

Thank you. I'm not sure how that fits in with everything, but I do think it casts doubt on the idea that Nanase-san is completely innocent.

I wonder what else we can use to eliminate people. Size? Because Szayel-san was quite large, and some of the people here are very small. Strength? Abilities?

[justfists]

We do have our abilities, it seems.

My powers are nuclear based, and as well as healing.

However, I'd caution that might mean nothing if some of us are not human.

Maybe it might be better to think in terms of why Granz-san was targeted.

Shady or not, he had medical knowledge to some extent. Losing him is a blow for all of us.

[Someone better make sure the Medic doesn't die]

And it might be a boon for the mafia, if his death keeps us from accurately figuring out the cause of death in future murders.

That seems way too complicated for him. [ sorry not sorry? ] And he doesn't look very...spider like. I've been to his room and it's not like he has webs or anything!

I'd disagree. I also don't think, if you went to any of our rooms, it would be spider-like. That's the point of a disguise.
