WEEK 4 INVESTIGATION
Four weeks.
By now, waking up to death on Friday was becoming normal.
Gazing at something that should not have occurred...a death of one of them.
A death done by one of them....which could have been done by anyone.
Even by someone who would seem to have no reason to kill...🗈

Gazing at something that should not have occurred...a death of one of them.

Even by someone who would seem to have no reason to kill...🗈
Such a thing...was draining.
No, it was more than that - it was preying upon their very souls...
But they had no choice.
No matter how they felt, they had to search, to find the body and find the clues that would bring them to the killer themselves in tomorrow's trial.
...What kind of horror will they find today?
What kind of death did one of their number face?
And what sort of horrible, heart-rending truth....will be the end result, at the end of this week...?

[There’s something either tired or just unsteady there, but he doesn’t look up.]

[It’s nonsensical, like a charm, or a spell. He curls up a little more and his voice drops to almost nothing for the next words.]
I wanted him to keep being Koide forever.

Eventually, she does kneel down, just... carefully avoiding the paint. ]
It should have been that way.

[His voice is a little louder again, a little firmer.]
It was never that way. The island, or the Game, or any of us.

Hm?

The Game won't end.
[The Game must go on.]

I don't know. Probably. I don't think Watanuki-kun really knew what he was getting into.
[ Which is not remotely a defense, and she doesn't mean for it to be one. ]

He never did.
But his Pieces made the choice. It might be faster to cut off the head, but it's a lot less satisfying.
[If it sounds disjointed, it's because he isn't entirely talking to her. It's a murmur, like a quiet stream of words to himself.]
