WEEK 3 - NIGHTSHADE

Finally, the whole truth of this affair had come out.

The Witch they had known as Yuuko was actually Nirrti, the Witch of Misfortune.
And Watanuki was actually the real Witch of Dimensions, as the two of them fought over the power that title brought, as well as the name and identity of a long dead woman...πŸ—ˆ

Though things had finally changed, perhaps it wouldn't be for the better. Nirrti herself seemed much different than how she was before, and Watanuki was the one who had brought all of them here...with that in mind, it was hard to tell how their future would shake out...

However, it wasn't all bad. A few more places were open to them, the second floor becoming a much more inviting place to be, and there was still everything they had gotten used to before. And now, they all knew that Nirrti's promises were nothing but empty air...

...or, perhaps, now they would merely change.

Namtar...? Another god?

[ she looks like she wants to say something else but is holding her tongue ]
anonnomnomnom: (My what a nice sword you have.)

A god or a demon? Or something else? I thought the goats were kind of Witches.

[Thanks Sora.]
respring: (a sad story β‚Ž let me explain)

Well, like with Nirrti-san I can't say if this is actually him or not, but Namtar was a god from Mesopotamian mythology who controlled diseases. There's a famous story from the myths, "Ishtar's descent into the Underworld," where he curses Ishtar with 60 diseases.

Wait, Namtar is a god? I thought it was just "Ratman" backwards, like the world's lamest vampire.

Hm...?

[ Looking at her with mild concern. ]

The names. Namtar is a Mesopotamian god. "Two of them, instead, curse you with diseases like Ishtar" is referencing when Namtar cursed Ishtar with 60 diseases when she ventured into the Underworld. It's a famous myth.

[ He blinks softly... ]

Ah... You're right. [ y i k e s ] 60 diseases... And some of those were...
respring: (sweating β‚Ž ah yes that's nice)

I can't offer much help beyond this, I apologize.

Still helpful, if you ask me...

It gives us more of an idea of what we could be up against.

Mm, I'm familiar with the story of Ishtar and the Underworld.

[ she flinches a little under his gaze ]

...is there something wrong?
respring: (wat β‚Ž run that by me again?)

[personal profile] respring 2019-04-11 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
No, no, it's fine! I just...can I ask who you're thinking of, if that's alright?

[ if it's someone else from Mesopotamian mythology she is really curious ]
respring: (meep!)

[personal profile] respring 2019-04-11 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
[ wait what ]

The Hindu goddess? [ WHO NIRRTI IS ANOTHER FACET OF, NO LESS ] I-I'm very flattered. [ but also kind of confused because she is Japanese last time she checked ]

Do you know her personally?

[ she's a little surprised but also not, because if something like the Throne of Heroes exists in her world, why would something similar not exist here? even if uh, it means a Mesopotamian death god knows a Hindu love goddess ]
