Week Two Afterparty: For the people who are Still Alive

That afternoon could not be more confusing.

Not only was the witch who called herself Yuuko a fake, but it turned out the witch who communicated through bird and notes was none other than one of the pieces. And the suffering... Oh, the suffering...

At least nobody else died for now...🗈

In spite of the lack of death, Wheatley was about as shaken up as everyone else. If he wasn't sure he was going to die here before, he is definitely certain now.

But he wasn't going to try and let it get to him. Even if he kind of wished he could consume things in the real world, he's still clinging to the small victory they had in sparing everyone.

On that note, he had the goats prepare a feast, turning the dining room table into a buffet table. There was turkey, fish, granola bars, fish shaped crackers, a giant bowl of frosted flakes, Macaroni and cheese with chunks of fish, fish shaped granola bars... Look, Wheatley didn't quite understand what humans liked to eat at these things, but at least it looks professional.

There's even a large cake in the center of the table. It's covered in chocolate frosting, strawberries, and has a lovely message written in bold white frosting: "WE SURVIVED".

Ah... That's a rather long story...

See, I was trying to help this human test subject -Didn't get her name until after the fact, but it's Chell- We were trying to escape the facility, so we sabotaged her turrets, shut off the neurotoxin, and went to see Her in Her lair... "Her" being GLaDOS, the giant robot who should be running the place.

Right after I rolled into the place, the announcer comes on saying She has a corrupted core! And I should be the one replacing her! So I thought to myself, "hm, why not?" and went along with it. There was a stalemate, Chell resolved it, and one horrifying core transfer later I was plugged into Her body!

That's when the trouble started.

. . . test subject. . . ?

[ That isn't what he honestly should be asking about but.

It's the first thing he asks about. ]

Yeah, it's an Aperture Thing. We run a lot of tests, seeing if test subject can get from point A to point B with a portal gun without dying. Kind of like what the Foundation does, but more predictable.

[excavated]

That doesn't sound like a good thing... But anyway, continue. You said "trouble started", right?

[Shrug.]

Oh! Right, that...

Well... I have no idea what happened, but I suddenly got all bossy and mean at Chell for god knows what reason! Then She defended her, and apparently my first response was to put Her in a potato battery? You know, like the ones from grade school?

Then She called me a moron, I got angry, and then I kind of shoved her and Chell down a pit.

..... They came back, though.

[ Syaoran has no idea what this explanation is. Spoilers: he knows nothing about technology, so this is over him. ]

[Wheatley has no idea Syaoran has no idea, so he just prattles on.]

At that point, I got this weird itch. I just had to test! All the time! And I couldn't find any test subjects, so I tried making these cubes with legs, which didn't really do so well... But with Chell?

Ugh...

It's just terrible, I literally did the same thing She did, ran her through a bunch of tests. And it felt really good at first! But... Then it didn't feel as good, then I got irritated... And...

[He falls silent for a second... His words hit him, and the forgotten guilt comes right back in.] ... Look, Chell managed to escape, in the end, and I'm not doing Her job anymore. So it's fine. I just... Kind of wish Chell was here sometimes so I could just tell her I'm sorry about everything I've done.

- Though, I don't think I'd want to kill for that! Not after what happened to the other dead people and Watanuki! But still, I do want to apologize... Does that make sense?
