WEEK 2 MINGLE - ARTEMISIA

Things had changed so rapidly in the past few days.

The loss of two of them hung over like a shroud, made even worse by the fact that an innocent person had been executed.

Was this....how the rest of the game was going to go...?🗈

....Even if it was, there wasn't much they could do now. Yuuko herself hasn't shown up in public since the trial, and while some have talked to her, she's been...subdued.

Did the trial hurt her just as much as them?

Regardless, the island is still beautiful, if deadly. Summer continues, beaming down on all of them, the waves of the sea warm and inviting.

But even if things look bleak...

They have something in their hands that will soon lead to the Truth, and the heart of this matter.

And in the air...lies a heavy sense that everything is about to change.

There's a third Witch! That's their mentor who showed them how to play. I have no idea what she's called.

I asked about it, and Feathers said something something about how the Game is also in the mental realm, so one of us could be like, subconsciously really fond of puzzles.

[Why does he shoot an amused look at Ruler here.]

Anyway, though, I think she was just guessing, too. So it's a mystery about the mystery that maybe isn't our main mystery!

Her name is Lambdadelta, apparently. The fake Yuuko-san insisted that Lambdadelta-san wouldn't interfere, though.

And I know that the other Witch -- I guess we're calling her Feathers-san now? -- she said she was going to inquire about it, to see if someone outside of those three are messing with their so-called game.

Why do all of the witches have weird names? I can't even pronounce that. Lamb-da-delta? What sort of name is that?

At least this Feathers person is making an effort to look into this. Wherever they are.

Lambda and delta. Lambda is the eleventh letter of the Greek alphabet, while delta is the fourth.

Yeah. Hopefully we'll hear more from them real soon.

.... I'm just gonna call her Delta. That's easier to remember.

Hey, is Lambdadelta the one that got married and disappeared forever on her honeymoon? I think Yuuko admired her a lot, but she got totally rejected because Lambdadelta had a husband now.

[He's definitely misunderstood something and you're going to have to break up his crack ship now.]

And I'm calling her Feathers because Wings is no good, and it's easier than Bird Witch or Other Witch or Not-Yuuko Witch. This Game just keeps getting more complicated, doesn't it? You never know who's going to suddenly appear next!

[As always, he appears to be having a good time.]

I don't actually know, since I haven't asked too much about Lambdadelta-san. . .

I thought Lambdadelta wasn't involved anymore because of that, but maybe she's still around.

By the way, do any of you remember all the goats that were in the courtroom last time? It was real distracting because we were all changed, but there was something different about them. They didn't really feel like butlers...

I wonder how many people are really watching the Game?

You think that they might be different from the butlers? It seemed like a lot of them were watching, although I couldn't tell you how many.

The butlers are just butlers. These ones were less butler-like.

So basically they're not butlers.

Who cares? People watching can't help us.

They probably can't help us, but what if it's one of them interfering? If the Epitaph doesn't come from any of the Witches, then--

It's either from one of us, or-- [another finger] --somebody who knows what's going on in this Game. Right?

If they could interfere enough to leave us a complicated riddle carved in stone that's hidden from both witches, then they could do more. They're fucking with us for fun, just like the witches.

I wonder about that. No matter how powerful someone is, they can still be bound by rules -- especially the rules in a Game like this. The more powerful people are involved, and the more the Game board is under their control, the harder it is to change things.

[There's something funny about the way he says that, but then he shakes his head and it's back to business as usual.]

It's also gotta be pretty dangerous, to make these Witches angry. It's probably not for fun!

Dammit, how many witches ARE there?

I'd assume there's a lot, but there's probably only those three specifically involved with the game.

Depends what you mean by that. But my little sister would definitely fit in with them. She's a sad child that likes edgy things like death and despair.

As long as you aren't using living things for toys, you're in the clear.

Like I said. My sister does, I've been trying to rein her in for...awhile now.

Well, you can't control what your sister does -- you can only try and mitigate the damage.
