....Even if it was, there wasn't much they could do now. Yuuko herself hasn't shown up in public since the trial, and while some have talked to her, she's been...subdued.

Did the trial hurt her just as much as them?

Regardless, the island is still beautiful, if deadly. Summer continues, beaming down on all of them, the waves of the sea warm and inviting.

But even if things look bleak...

They have something in their hands that will soon lead to the Truth, and the heart of this matter.

Well, it works in a truly remarkable number of ways, and those books, I'm sorry to say, are only going to give you the most technical details. You'll be lucky if you find anything but heterosexual in them, too, with the state of academics and sexuality.

Even starting out vanilla, sex between a man and a woman, two men, or two woman, are each vastly different things with different approaches.

If you're the right species or willing to put in the extra effort, yes, absolutely. For actually making babies, it's easiest for a man and a woman in most species. That's the way the anatomy is built, it largely takes care of the process on automatic if not prevented.

Two men typically need magical or technological intervention to produce a child. In most, the same applies to two women, unless one or both are ice maidens, who can reproduce asexually regardless.

Ohh... that's really amazing. But ice maidens? What kind of species are those? [ HE'S SO CURIOUS ]

Ice maidens are an all-female race of youkai, they're quite insular. There's only one known case of an ice maiden producing a male child and it was through a similar rarity of producing a child through sex with a male.

[There's something distant and wistful on his face for a second before he shakes it off.]

Though all things considered, I'm afraid I have to ask you if you realize that producing children is not...the only reason people have sex?
