WEEK 1 MINGLE - KALMIA

All of the guests awoke in their rooms, just like they had before.

Yesterday had been a day of surprises.
First, they'd finally met the person who had brought them here - the Witch of Dimensions, Yuuko.
Secondly, they'd learned they were going to be playing a horrible game.
And most important, they learned that wishes could be granted if they won this game.🗈

Still, for now, it seemed like there wasn't much to do. Was the Witch already in talks with the 'Murderer'? Was the 'victim' already decided upon?

There was no way to know until some day later this week, apparently.

Still, it wasn't all bad. The island was beautiful and the climate just perfect for beachgoing, or taking a cosy walk in the garden. There were also board and card games which would be produced upon request - and the tv in the Sitting Room - to help ease the boredom of it all.

Though, perhaps the guests would prefer to get to know each other instead? On maybe get into some trouble as they roamed the island.

Despite being told someone will die, it...felt remarkably peaceful. Could one of their own really be able to kill someone?

...Or, maybe...this is just the silence that comes just before a massive storm breaks, and sweeps away everything...

That's not possible.

It's not that she doesn't exist anymore, since myself and Watanuki still remember her...

[ But she's dead, basically. ]

No matter how hard anyone tries, there's no way to bring her back to life, or pull her from a time where she was still alive. Because that is what she wished for.
chaoscontrol: (hmmph again.)

[personal profile] chaoscontrol 2019-03-25 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
So... she wished to be completely removed from the timeline, as if she never existed. And yet you still remember her.

[he folds his arms, thinking]

... then perhaps she is a construct of memories.

[personal profile] excavated 2019-03-25 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
She wanted to pass on, as much as Fei Wang wanted to keep her alive, potentially forever.

[...]

That's possible. Although... there was something off about her response to me when she answered my question regarding this game. Mostly regarding the fact that she stated that any wish would be granted, outside of reviving the dead if one managed to win this game.

[personal profile] chaoscontrol 2019-03-25 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I know nothing about this Yuuko.... is there something unusual about that statement?
excavated: (pic#13008087)

[personal profile] excavated 2019-03-25 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes.

All wishes have a price. But if you pay too much, or too little... you might potentially hurt yourself.
chaoscontrol: I can barely cross my arms (my hands are so big)

[personal profile] chaoscontrol 2019-03-25 06:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I think the point is moot... since who knows how many lives are to be sacrificed for this wish.
excavated: (pic#13008089)

[personal profile] excavated 2019-03-25 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah.

But even with all those lives sacrificed... if someone made a wish that wasn't equivalent to what was paid, then everyone who wound up surviving would be in pain. I don't want anyone to have to go through that. And more than that, I don't want anyone to have to die anymore for a sake of wish.

[ He's so tired of it. ]
chaoscontrol: (don't hold me back)

[personal profile] chaoscontrol 2019-03-25 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Ultimately, what you or I want doesn't matter. To these witches, we are simply a means to an end. That they offer a "wish" at all is just a ploy.

[personal profile] excavated 2019-03-25 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
You might be right. In the end, it's not really important to what has to be done.
anonnomnomnom: (Can you eat it?)

[personal profile] anonnomnomnom 2019-03-25 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
So... what’s the point in being Yuuko, if this Witch is fake but agreed to a game with people who would call her fake for not being dead?

[Someone’s gotta ask.]

Is it because her powers are really useful?
excavated: (pic#13008081)

[personal profile] excavated 2019-03-25 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know. If we were truly chosen at random, there's no need for her identity to be Yuuko-san's. Although it might have been the most convenient... since she's no longer in any world.

It's true that her powers are useful, but everything has a price.
anonnomnomnom: (My what a nice sword you have.)

[personal profile] anonnomnomnom 2019-03-25 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
So they're okay with being called a fake, but the real Yuuko probably isn't breaking down the door to get her stuff back! Yeah, that makes sense.

[The way he says it is funny, like he's talking about a class clown or a favorite athlete. Somebody you kind of get, but would also kind of like to popcorn at.]

Of course everything has a price, but do you know what the price is?
excavated: (pic#13008081)

[personal profile] excavated 2019-03-25 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
. . . Mm.

[ That's all he's going to say for now, anyway. ]

The price depends on what you're trying to do, but it has to be something equal to what you're doing.
anonnomnomnom: (Can you eat it?)

[personal profile] anonnomnomnom 2019-03-25 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
[> Anon will remember this.]

[For now, more importantly and probably more relevant to what Syaoran can actually talk about without become a series of grunts--]

What would be equal to a Witch of Dimensions? The way Not-Yuuko talked about it, all Witches seem like pretty powerful beings, anyway.
excavated: (pic#13008081)

[personal profile] excavated 2019-03-25 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Yuuko-san is the only witch that I know of. But a very powerful magician... like Clow Reed-san was would probably be just as powerful.
anonnomnomnom: (Wish I had the talent to study.)

[personal profile] anonnomnomnom 2019-03-26 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Giving up being as powerful as the powers you want doesn't really sound right for a price, though! What does Clow Reed do?
excavated: (pic#13008092)

[personal profile] excavated 2019-03-26 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't really know too much about Clow Reed-san, but... he was a powerful magician. In fact, he was probably one of the most powerful magicians in the world.
anonnomnomnom: (Can you eat it?)

[personal profile] anonnomnomnom 2019-03-26 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)
He was super powerful but you know nothing about him... That's a pity.

[A pause for thought.]

I don't think we can use him as a price. What else would be a good price? Is it all the dead people?

[You know, the dead people they're about to create.]
excavated: (pic#13008082)

[personal profile] excavated 2019-03-26 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
He kind of had that air of mystery around him, even if we talked once. Besides, Clow-san is no longer...

[ He's dead but he also cheated by reincarnating himself, CLAMP is weird. ]

If using all the dead people are the price, then their wish must be something heavy. But even so, there are some things that can't simply be granted by killing all these people. And more than that... it's not worth it.
anonnomnomnom: (Wish I had the talent to study.)

[personal profile] anonnomnomnom 2019-03-28 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, is he also dead?

[What's tact. Or letting things be artfully vague. RIP.]

So dead people can be a price, but they might not stack up to much. [he probably misinterpreted something terribly at some point] What are the things that you can't grant with dead people?

[personal profile] excavated 2019-03-28 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
He is.

They can stack up depending on what you want, but the price has to be equivalent to what you're giving. And you can't revive the dead even if you kill someone in exchange for it.
anonnomnomnom: (Wait I only have one gun.)

[personal profile] anonnomnomnom 2019-03-28 07:00 am (UTC)(link)
Was it the same as real Yuuko? I've never met this many Witches before, so it's kind of disappointing that most of them are dead already!

[It's not the time for Witch tourism.]

Mmm, so in other words, if death isn't a big deal to you, then dead people don't really count. Right? And then the other way around. [he taps at his temple briefly in thought] But why isn't a dead person equal to a dead person?
excavated: (pic#13008087)

[personal profile] excavated 2019-03-28 07:07 am (UTC)(link)
Similar.

It's not that 'death isn't a big deal to you', but rather 'death has to correspond to death', most of the time. Like if someone was cursed to death, the only way to remove that curse was to cause someone else to die. But... why a dead person can't be revived in exchange for someone else is because it's a taboo.
anonnomnomnom: (Wish I had the talent to study.)

[personal profile] anonnomnomnom 2019-03-28 07:17 am (UTC)(link)
You know, death and magic just sound like a really inconvenient combination...

So why's the reviving thing taboo, then?
excavated: (pic#13008081)

[personal profile] excavated 2019-03-28 02:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Because all life must come to an end eventually. Bringing someone back... is to break the laws of nature and destroy them.
