All of the guests awoke in their rooms, just like they had before.

Yesterday had been a day of surprises.
First, they'd finally met the person who had brought them here - the Witch of Dimensions, Yuuko.
Secondly, they'd learned they were going to be playing a horrible game.
And most important, they learned that wishes could be granted if they won this game.🗈

Still, for now, it seemed like there wasn't much to do. Was the Witch already in talks with the 'Murderer'? Was the 'victim' already decided upon?

There was no way to know until some day later this week, apparently.

Still, it wasn't all bad. The island was beautiful and the climate just perfect for beachgoing, or taking a cosy walk in the garden. There were also board and card games which would be produced upon request - and the tv in the Sitting Room - to help ease the boredom of it all.

Though, perhaps the guests would prefer to get to know each other instead? On maybe get into some trouble as they roamed the island.

Despite being told someone will die, it...felt remarkably peaceful. Could one of their own really be able to kill someone?

...Or, maybe...this is just the silence that comes just before a massive storm breaks, and sweeps away everything...

The price depends on what you're trying to do, but it has to be something equal to what you're doing.

What would be equal to a Witch of Dimensions? The way Not-Yuuko talked about it, all Witches seem like pretty powerful beings, anyway.

Yuuko-san is the only witch that I know of. But a very powerful magician... like Clow Reed-san was would probably be just as powerful.

Giving up being as powerful as the powers you want doesn't really sound right for a price, though! What does Clow Reed do?

I don't really know too much about Clow Reed-san, but... he was a powerful magician. In fact, he was probably one of the most powerful magicians in the world.

[anonnomnomnom]

He was super powerful but you know nothing about him... That's a pity.

[A pause for thought.]

I don't think we can use him as a price. What else would be a good price? Is it all the dead people?

[You know, the dead people they're about to create.]

He kind of had that air of mystery around him, even if we talked once. Besides, Clow-san is no longer...

[ He's dead but he also cheated by reincarnating himself, CLAMP is weird. ]

If using all the dead people are the price, then their wish must be something heavy. But even so, there are some things that can't simply be granted by killing all these people. And more than that... it's not worth it.

Oh, is he also dead?

[What's tact. Or letting things be artfully vague. RIP.]

So dead people can be a price, but they might not stack up to much. [he probably misinterpreted something terribly at some point] What are the things that you can't grant with dead people?

He is.

They can stack up depending on what you want, but the price has to be equivalent to what you're giving. And you can't revive the dead even if you kill someone in exchange for it.

Was it the same as real Yuuko? I've never met this many Witches before, so it's kind of disappointing that most of them are dead already!

[It's not the time for Witch tourism.]

Mmm, so in other words, if death isn't a big deal to you, then dead people don't really count. Right? And then the other way around. [he taps at his temple briefly in thought] But why isn't a dead person equal to a dead person?

Similar.

It's not that 'death isn't a big deal to you', but rather 'death has to correspond to death', most of the time. Like if someone was cursed to death, the only way to remove that curse was to cause someone else to die. But... why a dead person can't be revived in exchange for someone else is because it's a taboo.

You know, death and magic just sound like a really inconvenient combination...

So why's the reviving thing taboo, then?

Because all life must come to an end eventually. Bringing someone back... is to break the laws of nature and destroy them.

I thought magic was breaking the laws of nature!

Magic is... a little different.

No, it's more that-- normally magic doesn't break the laws of nature. Only when you break a taboo does it do that.

Has anyone ever told you your laws of nature are really interesting?

[He's just grinning in amusement.]

So what other taboos are there? Not-Yuuko's probably going to break 'em all, so we might as well figure it out.

If she's going to break them, I'd rather not say them aloud. Not yet.

Hmm, is this another thing where if you say it you’ll break the future?

No, nothing like that. It's something else.

I know you're all new, and it's pretty normal on the island right now, but you're a pretty mysterious guy, Syaoran.

[Just! Saying!]

When do we get to know, anyway?

You think so? [ He certainly doesn't mean to come off that way, but... ] If... she actually decides to do it, you'll know.

We've only been meeting for an hour but you've already had two things you mostly couldn't say out loud! It's like you're a top secret assassin from the future or something.

[Anon that's a bad comparison in this day and age.]

Mm... We'll know? Or you'll tell us?
