MOCK ROUND - WEEK 2 INVESTIGATION

Even though they had already been through this once before, the atmosphere in the air as they woke up on Friday still felt incredibly ominous.

Yet again, they would have to see the death of one of their own, and investigate as much as they could to find the culprit among them... 🗈

But unlike last time, today felt much more....intense. Like an odd smell in the air, or a palpable feeling of tension, something horrible hanging over them with a knowing sneer.

Even the sounds felt different, though all that could be heard is the normal sounds of the morning...

After this - after the final trial - things would be over.

Yet, has this....really been worth it...?

The real issue here, though, is the body placed in the center of the path.]

Luna stops when she sees the corpse, backs up a step, her face twisting a little.]

Must you die here?

[It’s very rude when a lady’s trying to go for her morning walk?? Anyway, as she’s judging the dead person, first impression deets on the corpse?]

Even though it's a gruesome sight, the identity of the body is clear as day.

Lunafreya is dead.

Not only that...she looks as if she's been torn to pieces. She's missing a few fingers on her hands, and her stomach is cut open. There are also bite marks to her hands and feet, and a puddle of blood is below her.]

To be frank, what Luna would really like to do is turn on her heel and find a pristine corner of the rosebushes the way she did last week. But then, since she's already here, she might as well see for herself what they've got to deal with this week. It looks like either Lambda or the murderer's sense of drama has peaked.

Probably both.]

[She's going to move forward and check around Lunafreya to see if there are any stray fingies floating around or if they've become delicacies. Does Scarred want to do the corpse toucher honors?]

Scarred was just going to walk a bit closer, and try to avoid that blood puddle. She's stood in worse but this is a little different.

What does this stomach cut look like? And is still actually torn a part as in limbs removed from body are just lots of cuts?]

The stomach cut looks like a jagged tear, and there's also a lot of smaller cuts on her body, which is why it seems almost torn apart. There's also a large set of claw marks on her chest, though there's not a lot that Scarred can make out beyond that and the other smaller cuts and bites.

As for Luna (robot), there's no fingers around anywhere, though she does see that part of some rosebushes are trampled down.]

[Why did she choice the wrong specialization? She squints a bit at it trying to work it out....Yep. They certainly look like some bad cuts. And she can think of things that could do them.

The problem is all of them are from home.]

....I can't see it clearly with all the blood.

Curiosity got the better of him, though, which is why he's wandering over to the body. He's making a judgmental face. ]

There's... A few things it could be. Unfortunately I'm not sure which one killed her.

[The claws and the stomach tear are pretty bad.]

I hope that it was near instant though. Bleeding out like this...

[She's still looking without touching. Was there anything in the blood pool?]

[Nope! Just that it isn't circular like you'd expect it to be. It's actually rather smudged, like there was a lot of activity around it.]

[ He's crouching down, frowning a little as he leans to take a look at the smaller cuts.

The guy isn't an expert (at least he knows what a knife cut looks like now! :D), but he's curious, for now. Do these look like they were done by a blade? ]

[They Do not! Though to get an accurate look, he'll have to look closer.]

[ Them not looking like knife wounds is enough to have him curious enough to look closer, yep. ]

[He'll notice the wounds seem to be a little more deeper than they need to be, like they were made with something not very sharp.

As he looks, he'll also notice that the bite marks on her feet and hands are actually kind of small, though they seem a little warped.

However, the biggest thing is brusing on her neck suggesting she was grabbed, and her neck seems broken.

There does seem to be something a little off with the claw marks on her chest, but it's hard to tell without trying to look closer.]

[ WELL, OKAY, this is definitely turning into way more than he'd expect someone to need to do with Luna-freakin'-freya, of all people.

He's curious about both the bite marks and the claw marks...

... but, let's just start by getting a closer look at the claw marks. ]

[Eyyyy did someone call for the robot eyes that wandered off into the bushes for like 500 years. If Luna checked out the trampled rosebushes for this long did she find something!

She gives Vanitas a small nod when she spots him.]

Come to look at the death, I see.

[There's no shade there, she's just stating facts.

Sometimes ex-not-quite-murderers gotta look at bodies the next week. She'll move around the blood puddle and try to see what might have been happening in it while Vanitas gets a closer look at the body. Just let her know if you want her to come stare at it too.]

[Re: rosebushes, not much - just that it looks like someone might have leapt out from there.

The blood puddle is too smudged to tell what exactly went on in it, or even if there are any footprints (or hoofprints).]

It looks...a little unnatural. Someone wouldn't normally put their hand like that when they're slashing, and since Vanitas has his little darkness monsters, he can easily tell that.

Beyond that, though, all the...uh....shredded flesh in the way makes it hard to tell, but you get the sense something else might be off about it.]

Before moving to take one more look at the bite marks, since he's already up here, he's going to put his hand around her neck...

How does the bruising compare against his own hand? He's thinking namely in size and shape... ]

[Looking more carefully, it looks more like someone grabbed her neck and broke it using their arm. It's a straight line across the neck - though it does look decently thick, though not super thick.]

They certainly took their time, didn't they?

[And effort. This is so much effort to kill one girl that it's very unlikely all of these injuries contributed to the issue here. Luna's just been standing back observing Vanitas' Forensic Adventures; but once he's moved on to the neck, she'll step in a little closer and crouch, keeping her dress carefully out of the blood puddle.

Time to look back at the hands, first. What kind of small and warped are we talking? To be clear, are they remotely human-sized or human-like? ]
