MOCK WEEK - WEEK 1 TRIAL

It was noon on Friday.

No matter where they were, no matter what they were doing...the moment the chimes rang out through the hall, they felt a change.

The world...began to expand, as they felt themselves leaving the world they were on, and towards another, much larger world...🗈

This new world looked like...the inside of an ornate courtroom, like something that wouldn't be too far from some kind of grand fantasy novel.

The Witch, Lambdadelta was there, sitting in the most important place, smiling brightly at everyone. There was no music to be heard, but... perhaps on another plane, in another place, someone else heard music as they gazed upon the proceedings.

As they looked around, they might have also been surprised to see that their forms had changed - perhaps only slightly, or a much more dramatic change. It seemed like this place demanded a different form in some way, even if it was just a change of clothing.

...There was a deep silence in the room, one that no one wanted to break. It was the faint tension in the air, like the moments before a race or a competition begins.

Yesterday had been the start of the game. But now, armed with all they knew...now, they had to truly go up against the Witch, and somehow.....win.

Right?

Why would you use your own style in a game like this?

Oh. Huh. Haha. Well, it's the only thing I know how to use without our powers. Anything else runs a risk of ruining my hands or throwing out my shoulder, and that's something I don't want to risk.

I suppose it's impossible prove our line of reasoning with this.

[Since they're just off now about Jack's preferences in pointy objects.]

So I'll ask you something else: how and why do you think the knife was used?

I don't know. It seems like over kill, you know? [ Hmm ] Unless they were trying to throw us off of the gun being used, but that's stupid, too. People would have seen the wound on his... forehead. [ Shoulders slump ]

It looks like the gun is indeed our murder weapon. But it's true that it is overkill. The stakes, the knife, and the gun were all used.

Oh boy. Does that mean they aren't used to killing? Or maybe needed to remove something... from him.

[ Frowning a bit. It sucks when it's someone you actually like. ]

Remove something? Do you have a theory?

I don't know. Maybe? I think they either wanted to dig out the bullets and realized that it was getting messy quickly, or maybe Riku had something on him that belonged to the killer. Maybe hair or blood? Something the killer would have wanted to conceal by using the knife. We just don't really know what or why.

I see. It's possible that the knife was used on the wounds after the fact.

[If any wound-diggers or examiners want to chime in, now is the time.]

[ Shrugging! ]

Beats me. That was my first time investigating a knife wound.

I'm pretty sure if the knife was used at all it was probably on his hand. Though I can't tell for sure. It'd be the most fitting.

Did he try to block or...

[ Scratching his head. ]

Or maybe it was pulled out of his hand?
accitio: (♥ and you're here in my heart)

[ Pause of consideration. ]

Could the culprit have knocked on his door and attempted to stab him when he opened it? If so, Riku could have instinctively tried to shield himself with his hand.
accitio: (♥ once more you opened the door)

[personal profile] accitio 2019-02-16 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
That seems believable enough. We do not yet know why or how the knife plays into this. At first, I thought it was merely because the culprit preferred the knife to any other weapon. After all, from the number of gunshots, it does seem as though the murderer was somewhat unfamiliar with guns.

Indeed. The culprit came prepared, which is perhaps a clue in and of itself.

[personal profile] artificialhighness 2019-02-16 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
The culprit is someone who knows the mansion well enough to know how to commit the crime. They would have known about the windows, the stakes, and maybe even Riku himself.

[Depending on who wrote the words, of course.]

Anything else?
accitio: (♥ that is how i know you go on)

[personal profile] accitio 2019-02-16 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I think so, although I cannot help but feel if we present the theory someone who knows the mansion, it will strengthen Lady Lambdadelta's story. She knows the mansion better than all of us.

Instead, it could have been someone with the foresight to test the windows in advance.
artificialhighness: (041)

[personal profile] artificialhighness 2019-02-16 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Does she? I wonder. The lady in armor and I were talking about how the master bedroom does not seem to belong to her, and moreover the stakes also do not belong to her.

[Just something to keep in mind, even if it is peripheral to their cause right now.]

I did say that they just need to know the mansion well -- not that they need to know it best. They would also have some connection to the victim.
accitio: (♥ you have come to show you go on)

[personal profile] accitio 2019-02-16 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Definitely something to keep in mind! She looks thoughtful at the words and seems to be taking them pretty seriously. ]

You are right. Should we ask how many of us investigated the mansion and which rooms they explored? I imagine most of us at least looked around, but surely there are some who took a closer look than the rest.
artificialhighness: (005)

[personal profile] artificialhighness 2019-02-16 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
We can try, but I'm not sure the culprit would answer truthfully anyway. There must be some other way to get the relevant information.

[AKA she's probably going to try and trick it out of people again, if needed. Who knows.]
accitio: (♥ far across the distance)

[personal profile] accitio 2019-02-16 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
They may not, not unless someone was around to witness their search.

[ Do what she cannot, Luna...! Trick ev'rrybody! ]
