MOCK ROUND - WEEK 1 INVESTIGATION
It had almost been a week since everyone had been brought here.
The days had gone by with no hint of trouble, not from the Witch, or any of her servants. It almost seemed like nothing would happen after all.
Yet, as everyone woke up...something felt different.
It felt...like they were about to take a step into the darkness.🗈

It felt...like they were about to take a step into the darkness.🗈
Like they were going to see something that shouldn't be seen....or feel something that shouldn't be felt.
This....was a fake game, right...? Then why....was there this ominous feeling? Like something nearby was just...waiting for them to stumble the right way, bringing them closer to it's hungry mouth...
...
No matter what it is, though, they had to step forward.
They had....to finally, truly start this game.
((OOC: Characters will need to bold locations to look for clues...or the body!))

And you know what
He's just going to
sit out here.
And try to ignore that real bad feeling.
and maybe listen for screaming]no subject
Have you seen anything unusual today?
no subject
that is a big sword. He blinks at it a few times]
Eh... er. Hey, Luna. Good morning. [he shakes his head] Aside from that sword you've got there, nothing weird. But something sure feels off...
no subject
[Is it a good morning, though? Really? She seems a bit distracted overall, posture a little more drawn in on herself than usual, but her voice is relatively calm.]
This was given to me yesterday -- something I picked up at home. I assume the witch had something to do with it. [pause] It's been a little while since I felt this. Death, I think.
no subject
[Silver sort of balls up on himself] ... It's fake, though. Right? It has to be fake.
no subject
[There's something sharp in her voice that smooths out as she quietly examines the gem -- it throws nice reflections on the flowers.]
It's a good trinket. Should it not be glass?
no subject
[he allows her to examine it, and it's really quite pretty! But it doesn't hold a candle to the real thing]
No. It's a fake Chaos Emerald, so it should be made of... [paaaaauseeee....] .... whatever emeralds are made of?
no subject
[She'll go look later, because they sure are still in the middle of the game, and she isn't really interested in giving the witch too much leeway.
She remembers seeing something like it, somewhere once upon a time. It's probably not important. Many things are sparkly and green.]
Emeralds are made of mineral. A brittle kind. But I've never heard of a 'Chaos Emerald'.
no subject
I think it's because they can only be found in my world. There's seven of them, each in a different color -- and they have special powers.
no subject
Special magic gems, I see. What power did the green one have?
no subject
Well, I think they all have the same powers! Supposedly, they can make your thoughts into reality. I've used them to warp space and time.
no subject
Also get a better diet, Silver??]
Like a wish-granting device, but more powerful. I can see why you would get something like this here.
no subject
Yeah... too bad it isn't real. [he takes it back from her and tosses it up and down] Not that I could use it, anyway -- not without my powers. So it's just a sparkly paperweight.
no subject
The witch wouldn't allow something like that to interfere with her plans. [she watches him play with it, head tilted] What sorts of things have you been able to do with the emerald, yourself?
[There are a lot of things that can happen in the warping of space and time, as impressive as that sounds.]
no subject
Well, let's see. I've used it to travel backwards and forwards in time... Just one of these babies can power any machine you can think of indefinitely! Supposedly, they can even bring back the dead.
no subject
... I see. There are also such things in my world, but they don't come from magic, powers or minerals. They still defy common logic and sense, but they are part of the fabric of the world.
[Rather than outside of it, the way this seems to be.]
no subject
I think the Chaos Emeralds are as much a part of our world as anything else... they're just, like. Pure energy, crystallized. But what kinds of things are they, then? Technology?
no subject
[It's a sentiment that rises slowly, like the tide at the beach, each time she listens to the vagaries of magic. It's both curious and dangerous, and reminds her that they still have the witch hovering over their shoulder at this point.
The witch and death. She shakes her head.]
Technology, yes. Nanocells. They may grant healing, immortality, and many other blessings.
[Those two are just the most important, probably.]
no subject
It sounds like they may be harnessing the same kinds of energy to me...!
no subject
I'm not sure; I know what the energy I am made of feels like. I would have to see a real Chaos Emerald for a proper comparison.
[Though she's being kind of pedantic about it, she doesn't appear to be against the idea. There's a faint strain of curiosity, actually.]
no subject
[you know, before they all go home]
