FINAL TRIAL

After a very, very long six weeks, it has finally come. The last time everyone will need to trudge up those stairs and meet in the master suite. It's do or die time, and hopefully everyone knows what needs to be done by now.
As soon as the guests walk into the room, they will be able to smell the food that the chef has provided: duck l'orange, served up on a nice platter. Eat up everyone!
There are a few unexpected guests this time. A large group of the rats is here, and they show up in a swarm as they carry Gabe into the room, much like how they had carted him off to the Child Daycare last night. Once he is deposited in the room, Gabe will also stand up and remain there, crossing his arm and looking a bit standoffish.
They're not the only unexpected faces around here, though...

[ And he can't help but be happy about that, at least. ]
It's fine, there's probably a lot more you'll come up with between now and later on.
[ Partly because there's still a certain big Foundation-shaped issue that is probably dangling in front of them besides their whole reunion. ]

[Though thinking about the Foundation - that's definitely something.]
Actually, one of them was-- Sorry. About how I was at the Foundation.

[ He'll smile a little. ]
That's good enough for me.
[ After all, in Roxas' mind most people do deserve second chances. Emphasis on most. ]

The stuff with Mikado... All of that happened way later, you know? I didn't think about it until it got personal.
[It's pretty shameful, too. His own life shouldn't have mattered, but that shook him.]
I was already trying to change things back then. But now I know how to do that even better.
It's all thanks to everyone here.
[For showing him how to love and acknowledge - really acknowledge - the people who touched his life.]

Better later than never.
[ He'll raise a hand and gently tap it against his chest in a small fist. ]
... I think it was good that we were there for each other when it mattered. Even if a lot things happened in this place that I'd never want anyone to experience, us meeting each other, and getting to know more about one another helped changed us better than if we'd never had at all.
no subject
Yeah... like, I definitely don't want to die again, but...
It feels like if anything happened differently, I wouldn't have gotten to know everyone as well, so... I'm kind of grateful it turned out like that.
no subject
Though, Roxas knows that not all of it has been necessarily just good change, most of it was, and there's no point in not focusing on that. ]
...I'm not sure how things happening differently would've affected me, but maybe I wouldn't have ended up the way I did now if it had.
[ It's a thing to wonder about all the same, but. He'll just move straight along. ]
Are you planning on heading back to the Foundation?
no subject
[It sounded really fake with how miserable he ended up, but maybe that will change now that they're all back.]
...Yeah. I told Cinque I'd help analyze her and Doppelling so they won't have to be locked up for so long. Besides... I think I have a better idea of how to use my power to actually help the people in the Foundation.
[Not the Foundation itself, but those who make it up.]
What about you?
no subject
[ Roxas supposed it might make sense, though...he wonders if he'd actually have agreed with it himself if someone had said that to him at the beginning of this mess. ]
I don't think they should be locked up at all. [ But, Roxas knows that would likely happen if she went back to the Foundation. ] But, as long as you can help make that time less and everyone else...maybe it won't turn out so bad.
[ ... ]
I'm not going back. I don't think I can even pretend to follow orders of any corrupt organization anymore...
no subject
...Yeah. Ah, that one hurt a bit, too.
[It's still strange--
It didn't used to hurt when people left him.]
...I'm really going to miss you.
no subject
[ Roxas smiles a little and reaches out to put a hand gently on the top of his head if Yoshi allows him. ]
It'll be probably a long while before I'm able, but it'll be worth it.
no subject
...Promise?
[It's hard, just imagining losing the friends he'd finally made here. Knowing now what it means to be lonely, what it means to want to be included.
He wants to believe they'll all see each other again.]
no subject
That's something Roxas isn't going to make lightly, but at the same time, it's one he'll make without a tinge of regret. ]
... I promise.
[ He'll even smile a little - it's tight, because the moment's bittersweet due to them likely not seeing each other for awhile after this, but maybe that's why he's still able to pull one off. ]
no subject
Still. The smile he gives is a bittersweet one, because although there's so many terrible things that can go wrong, that one thing, that promise-- it tells him that if nothing else, Roxas will do his best to make good on it.
That means it's up to Yoshi to do the same, right?]
...Then I'll be waiting. I'd say I'd look for another way to meet too, but...
[That's dangerous business, with his abilities, and under the eye of the Foundation.]
