Week 4 event

INVESTIGATION (?)

Friday morning comes and goes with no dead bodies to discover. Saturday morning passes with no trial. For two days, it seems like the Lady might be keeping to her word. This might truly be a week of rest, with no outside trouble brought in.

(She takes no responsibility for the incident in the vents, so.)

But then on Saturday night, close to midnight, the sound cuts off throughout the resort. The cause of the sudden quiet is unknown, but one thing is clear: something bad has happened.

Investigate?

[Shit. Shit. Shit. Okay. Ripley starts walking backwards even faster towards the door, careful not to turn her back on the big cat. They're facing off against a goddamn tiger, and there's no way that they're going to be able to subdue it with their bare hands. She carefully takes a book off the shelf and tosses it off to the side to distract it. Hopefully, that'll give them enough time to make it to the door.]

[As Ripley throws the book, Snake takes out his SOCOM, holding it low beside him as he backs away, not keeping his eyes off that tiger for a second. Maybe he'd like to try his odds 1v1 CQCing a tiger, but...not today, hopefully.]

Snake will get his chance to CQC whether he wants to or not. Because the tiger is jumping off of the bookshelf as it pounces at the pair. It lands dangerously close to Snake, though it does not hit him.

The bookshelf topples over, spilling its contents everywhere. Several books are destroyed, and the bookshelf is cracked. Hm.]

[Ripley notes the bookshelf toppling over, and then an idea hits her. She stumbles backwards, keeping her distance from the tiger.]

KEEP IT DISTRACTED! GET IT NEAR ONE OF THE BOOKCASES!

[She's going to try and sprint into another aisle. Let's hope that this works.]

[At Ripley's orders, Snake bolts into action. He darts around the side of the tiger, the opposite direction to Ripley, though not moving too far out of range, and fires a shot at the beast's front leg.]

[So fun fact: the tiger is impervious to bullets.

Another fun fact: Snake will be able to see a bit of blood on the tiger's neck. Like it got injured, but healed already, and the blood is the only evidence of said wound even existing.

The tiger, meanwhile will just bat at Snake. This isn't meant to kill him or anything, it's an attempt to knock him over. The tiger is playing and doesn't want its plaything dead too soon.

Ripley does escape its notice, though!]

[Ripley, on the other hand, is trying to tip the closest bookshelf onto the tiger. She's pushing on it with both hands, trying to make it wobble forward. She growls with frustration and gives it a shove--enough to cause it to tip and start falling.]

LOOK OUT!

[That's all the warning she gives for Snake to dodge out of the way.]

[Snake darts backwards, both from the batting of the tiger's paws, and then the bookshelf.

He's not relaxing yet, completely ready for the playtime to continue.]

[Ripley knocks the bookshelf over!

The bookcase does indeed fall onto the tiger! And the tiger is trapped for one round of tags. Snake can avoid getting trapped too, though.

What now?]

[Okay now that that's done, Ripley's sprinting the fuck towards the door. Bye, kitty. Maybe she'll play when it's claws aren't literally inches away from clawing her face off.]

LOCK THE DOOR!

[ Hears something heavy falling over in the library as she leaves the greenhouse???

Goes to peek in the door right before Ripley gets there -- yikes, bad timing. ]

Oh...! Is everything all right?

[ CLEARLY NOT ]

[SURE ISNT because Snake is running the fuck away to the door, and, if he's able to, closing it and locking it behind him as he does.]

Snake locks the door just in time to hear something crash against it. Said thing doesn't break through the doors though.

The tiger lets out a loud roar that can be heard throughout the resort, and then it goes quiet.]

[ Well, that's a tiger.

Back to the greenhouse. ]

[Ripley leans against the door, panting as she watches Anthy leave. She glances over to Snake.]

It's going to break out eventually. [She grimaces.] In the meantime, we should try and keep the kids from getting in. I don't doubt they'll try and break in to save their friend.

[ Okay, at the roar, and with Medic there, she'll leave the healing crew to to go running up the stairs to find him. ]

Did you guys find Atsushi?

[ Did you want someone to break in to save their friend? ]

Yeah.

[Snake looks at Cinque and speaks firmly, because he knows what these kids are like.]

You don't want to go in there. Best not to hang around here too long either.

[Ripley stares down at Cinque.]

That tiger--Atsushi's not...just, stay away from here for now, alright? We don't want anyone accidentally getting hurt.

[Or...more hurt. She doesn't know how long this tiger's been running around here.]

We need something to occupy it's attention for longer.

[ Well, conveniently, she's back. ]

Catnip?

[ Offers... catnip... ]

[ She'll put a hand on Snake and give a smile. ]

I can go talk to him.

[ Oh hey, Anthy. ]

Oh! That'll be perfect. We can give him this first, then can I talk to him?

[Hey guys, guess what.

The library has two doors. And the other door was open.

Someone sure did just run around the halls to circle around and trap the four there in the hallway, and would normally be mauling them to death currently, but.

Well.

The tiger smells the catnip and seems way more interested in that than in mauling anyone.

Give the catnip to the tiger?]

[...Shit. Ripley freezes upon seeing the tiger, then snatches the catnip from Anthy. Quick, this used to work on Jones. She quickly tries to take off her shoe, then her sock, and balls the catnip into the sock.]

Here, kitty kitty. [She keeps her voice quiet and high pitched, shaking the sock.] You like this? You want it?

[She starts inching towards the open end of the hallway, indicating for the others to come her way. After a pause, she tosses the sock down to the other end of the hallway, away from the stairs.]

Go get it!

[In the most tense game of catch ever played, Snake follows Ripley, making sure to herd the others too. He doubts he has to worry about Anthy, but he shoots a look to Cinque that only communicates one word:

Don't.]

[ He's communicating DO, right?

She does go with them at first, but as soon as the catnip is flying and if the Tiger gives chase, she'll give a kind of a smile at Snake before following after the tiger

Good news, there isn't much hallway left on this end? After they by the child daycare? ]

!!!

[The tiger bounds down the hall after the catnip sock, and immediately smushes its face against it.

CINQUE picks 7 - rolls 6

Cinque's presence will eventually get the tiger's attention, but that effect is not immediate. He will stay distracted for half an hour, so go make a plan on how to contain him.]
