Intro log: Welcome to The Resort!

INTRO LOG

Before you even open your eyes, you can tell something is not right. It's cold. Not quite unbearably so, but cold enough that you can take notice of it. And as soon as you open your eyes, you will be able to see why it's so cold: you're in the middle of a snowy forest, with only a single two-lane road cutting through the thick trees.

Unfortunately, you seem to be without transportation. Fortunately, you are wearing warm clothes and snow gear, so freezing isn't an immediate problem. But without transportation, you're in for a long walk ahead of you.

There are others around as well. Other people, just as lost and confused as you are. Everyone seems to be lacking any memory that might explain why everyone is here. As far as anyone knows, all of you were just ripped out of your previous lives and dumped here on this snowy road, wearing snow gear and having any items that are important to you already on hand. And for some of you, you even have a new power, one that you somehow instantly know how to use...

Two ways to go: forward and back. Despite having no indication of which way is the 'right' way, you feel drawn towards one direction in particular. Going 'back' is possible, but you get the feeling that you will be even more lost if you try. And given that you have no food or water on you, it's best to keep moving forward.

So, are you ready to walk? Because you have a long road ahead of you.

((Welcome to The Resort! Your characters will have any objects or animals with them that they should have given their canon point, but are dressed in cold weather clothing.

This prompt is just the first part of the intro log. New top-levels will go up over the course of the weekend as everyone progresses from 'where the hell am I?' to the resort proper, and to getting settled in. For now, just start with this prompt. We'll link further updates here for easy access.))

[He simply nods at her response. After Inaba didn't know where Erebonia is, he's been prepared at least a little bit for that kind of response, but it's still a little disheartening in its own way. Not that he lets it show when there's other things to talk about.

Like competing with cards. The idea isn't new to him, but simulations? What the heck are those when you come from anachronistic fantasy worlds...?! Then again, maybe the details aren't that important. He puts a hand to his chin, just kind of taking in her outfit again.]

So that makes Blue Angel something like your stage name, then? It really does suit you.
latebluemer: (冷静沈着かな)

[personal profile] latebluemer 2018-11-27 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
Yep, you've got the right idea.

[Another laugh, she has to laugh, because oh boy here's another thing she keeps forgetting to explain or account for. It's probably a good thing he didn't try to dig into the card stuff, because they don't need to be stuck here for an hour while she attempts to walk him through the basics of Duel Monsters with holographic cards.

Anyway.]

I'd hope it suits me, though! I created this myself, to fit.

[Gesturing at herself with a flourish.]

[personal profile] relentlesslyonwards 2018-11-28 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, really? [It's not disbelief so much as amazement when he says that, although he's still thinking in the sense of traditional plays and stage performances rather than anything virtual.]

That's pretty amazing... [The costume definitely has a different feel compared to what he's seen before, but that's definitely not a bad thing.]

I'm getting the feeling that I should see you perform one day, though. If you're up to it, I mean.
latebluemer: (えっ)

[personal profile] latebluemer 2018-11-28 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks. I wish you could see it, but the type of performance I do, well... It really doesn’t work without a proper opponent.

[It’s been frustrating lately, but suddenly she’s remembering that just sitting someone down and explaining the basics to get herself some practice really wouldn’t count as a proper performance. It’s a funny thing to contemplate.]

I could teach everyone to duel, but it takes time to master.
relentlesslyonwards: (i have this. don't worry.)

[personal profile] relentlesslyonwards 2018-11-29 09:21 am (UTC)(link)
Haha... makes sense. Still, if we really are stuck here like the staff says, then I don't think it'd be a bad way to pass the time.

[Not that it should be the only thing they do, but relaxing every now and then is healthy too.]

Do you have any of your cards on you right now?
latebluemer: (カムバーク ♥)

[personal profile] latebluemer 2018-11-30 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
I haven't really thought about it, but maybe... a basic version of duel monsters is possible here. It is a basic card game, at its core.

[She sounds thoughtful and distracted now, busily sifting through the possibilities of a stripped down version of the game -- there have always been different sets of rules and whatnot and even knock-offs back home, so it's not like she doesn't have any conception of what a basic version would look like. She'd just need... the data and platform to make it possible. Hm.

Well, getting too in-depth with it would probably just confuse her present companion. She does perk up when he asks about her cards, though.]

Of course I have my cards. A good duelist always has her cards with her.

[In Link VRAINS, anyway, but with the new duel disks, it's possible in real life too. She might be a terminal case of Card Problems. Anyway, she raises her left wrist, where a graceful floral-themed screen is strapped. A shining blue halo appears around her wrist, and she draws a card from it with a flourish. They are holograms, though, so have fun with that.]
relentlesslyonwards: (we're in this together.)

[personal profile] relentlesslyonwards 2018-12-01 07:31 am (UTC)(link)
[Whoa. Holograms aren't really a thing Rean's ever seen, so he's suitably in awe of the whole display, as normal is it may be for her.]

Wow... And here I was thinking you'd just pull a deck out of your pocket. Though, it's definitely a lot flashier this way.

[He takes a closer look at the card itself and it's definitely something he's never seen before. also all those instructions and effects, goddamn]

Haha. I can see what you mean about it taking time to master though. I wouldn't know where to start with all of this without some pointers.
latebluemer: (いいでしょう)

[personal profile] latebluemer 2018-12-01 08:18 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think any of us can help being flashy. But we did used to carry decks around.

[It goes without saying that she's one of the flashiest of the lot, though, so he's totally ruined for ordinary duelists now. Good thing nobody here is ordinary, and probably they're all going to be duelists eventually just because the programmers of the group got bored.

She's perfectly happy to let him examine the card. It's one of her many more basic Trickstar monsters. And given that she uses an effects deck, even more effects than usual!]

I think we're going to have time on our hands, so if you really want to learn, I'm sure you'd get somewhere. Beginners should just have fun for a while.
relentlesslyonwards: (we're in this together.)

[personal profile] relentlesslyonwards 2018-12-02 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
[yu-gi-oh end is the best end, clearly.

But yeah, this is a lot more complicated compared to Blade, not that it's a bad thing at all. It almost makes him wonder if Crow would enjoy this, but-- He shakes that thought out of his head.]

Cards aren't as far up my alley compared to some others I know, but... sure, I'd be game. It'll probably be a while before I can give you a run for your mira, but I'm up for the task.

[He looks pretty fired up about this, actually...]
latebluemer: (思い知らせてやる!☆)

[personal profile] latebluemer 2018-12-03 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
[Yu-Gi-Oh! end is the end where nobody gets any sleep but also they throw cards instead of punches at each other (usually), so given upcoming developments that can't be spoken of in this backdated thread, it really is a good end.]

I'll definitely look into whether we can get something together. This place has a network, so there has to be a way to duel each other.

[A little pause.]

I guess mira is the money where you come from?

[Cultural differences??]
relentlesslyonwards: (i have this. don't worry.)

[personal profile] relentlesslyonwards 2018-12-03 07:00 am (UTC)(link)
Hopefully we can get something working. And if all fails, maybe we can see if we can get regular decks.

[It may be pedestrian compared to holograms, but he's honestly more used to it that way. The comment about the mira makes him blink before he's back to smiling again.]

Haha, yeah. It's such a common phrase that it just kinda slipped out. And to be honest, I hadn't heard of a 'dollar' before coming here either.
latebluemer: (いいでしょう)

[personal profile] latebluemer 2018-12-03 07:08 am (UTC)(link)
I haven't used regular decks in a long, long time. It might be fun to go retro.

[There's something almost a little wistful in her voice.

She's been in this Duel Monsters business for a long time, and seen a lot of the changes and developments in the field from up close. It really has been a while.]

Hmm, it makes sense that you wouldn't have. Dollars are... the currency of America, and there are guesses that that's where we are. And in my country, we use yen.
