Intro log: Welcome to The Resort!

INTRO LOG

Before you even open your eyes, you can tell something is not right. It's cold. Not quite unbearably so, but cold enough that you can take notice of it. And as soon as you open your eyes, you will be able to see why it's so cold: you're in the middle of a snowy forest, with only a single two-lane road cutting through the thick trees.

Unfortunately, you seem to be without transportation. Fortunately, you are wearing warm clothes and snow gear, so freezing isn't an immediate problem. But without transportation, you're in for a long walk ahead of you.

There are others around as well. Other people, just as lost and confused as you are. Everyone seems to be lacking any memory that might explain why everyone is here. As far as anyone knows, all of you were just ripped out of your previous lives and dumped here on this snowy road, wearing snow gear and having any items that are important to you already on hand. And for some of you, you even have a new power, one that you somehow instantly know how to use...

Two ways to go: forward and back. Despite having no indication of which way is the 'right' way, you feel drawn towards one direction in particular. Going 'back' is possible, but you get the feeling that you will be even more lost if you try. And given that you have no food or water on you, it's best to keep moving forward.

So, are you ready to walk? Because you have a long road ahead of you.



((Welcome to The Resort! Your characters will have any objects or animals with them that they should have given their canon point, but are dressed in cold weather clothing.

This prompt is just the first part of the intro log. New top-levels will go up over the course of the weekend as everyone progresses from 'where the hell am I?' to the resort proper, and to getting settled in. For now, just start with this prompt. We'll link further updates here for easy access.))

Even if I was, I'd be making better jokes than that.

[ After a certain amount of time in the zombie post-apocalypse, you lose your humor about the damn things. ]

So, why'd someone want to kidnap you and leave you in the middle of nowhere?

[May as well ask that directly. See why this guy would be brought here]

No clue. Anyone who'd wanna kidnap me probably wouldn't wanna set me loose again, least of all with whatever random travel company this is.

[ Just gestures around at everyone else walking. ]

How about you? Any ideas?

I can think of a few people who'd want me out of their way.

[Ex-yakuza. Of course he can think of a few]

But they wouldn't get all of you involved if they were trying to get rid of me. I never met any of you ever before.

[Outright lying, he isn't going to mention he knows Akira]

Yeah, same here. You a musician?

That'd be my last guess for why anyone would want to lump us together.

[ It'd still be really weird and nonsensical, but people don't always make sense. ]

[Iwai laughs, not having expected that]

That's pretty far from my profession. Not a musician. Guess that means you are one, though.

You got it. My musical ability is just about the only reason I can think of for kidnappers leaving me alive instead of just offing me at first chance.

I sure won't complain if you win them over by playin' whatever instrument you play and get them to let us all go.

[If only it could be that easy. Still, this is information about one of his new fellow captives. It's good to know]

That hasn't worked out the last few times we were captive in some shithole, so I'm gonna take a wild guess and say it won't work this time either. Sorry.

[ Would be nice though. ]

Then how did you get out those few times?

[Looks like someone has experience in getting kidnapped. This may be good]

'Brute force' is probably not the answer you're looking for. But that's it.

[ Fighting your way out of bullshit and then into new bullshit is Kohaku's life. ]
