INTRO LOG

Before you even open your eyes, you can tell something is not right. It's cold. Not quite unbearably so, but cold enough that you can take notice of it. And as soon as you open your eyes, you will be able to see why it's so cold: you're in the middle of a snowy forest, with only a single two-lane road cutting through the thick trees.

Unfortunately, you seem to be without transportation. Fortunately, you are wearing warm clothes and snow gear, so freezing isn't an immediate problem. But without transportation, you're in for a long walk ahead of you.

There are others around as well. Other people, just as lost and confused as you are. Everyone seems to be lacking any memory that might explain why everyone is here. As far as anyone knows, all of you were just ripped out of your previous lives and dumped here on this snowy road, wearing snow gear and having any items that are important to you already on hand. And for some of you, you even have a new power, one that you somehow instantly know how to use...

Two ways to go: forward and back. Despite having no indication of which way is the 'right' way, you feel drawn towards one direction in particular. Going 'back' is possible, but you get the feeling that you will be even more lost if you try. And given that you have no food or water on you, it's best to keep moving forward.

So, are you ready to walk? Because you have a long road ahead of you.

((Welcome to The Resort! Your characters will have any objects or animals with them that they should have given their canon point, but are dressed in cold weather clothing.

This prompt is just the first part of the intro log. New top-levels will go up over the course of the weekend as everyone progresses from 'where the hell am I?' to the resort proper, and to getting settled in. For now, just start with this prompt. We'll link further updates here for easy access.))

... From what I've heard, it's a disease that's common in the 7th grade. Where a child becomes convinced that they're something they're not, like a dragon or a mermaid. Or... a prince or princess?

I think it's also called 'delusions of grandeur'.

[And she is certainly explaining all of this very patiently, but.]

I certainly don't suffer from delusions of granduer! For starters, they're not delusions.

Hmm? If they're not delusions, then what are they?

[She sounds genuinely curious about this, for the record. The guy is overdramatic enough to star in the opera but that hasn't actually told her very much about what he's talking about. Somewhere in all the monologuing, maybe there is meaning??

She does sound amused when she tacks on her explanation, though:]

7th grade is... the seventh year you go to school? I didn't know there were that many cultural differences here.

[Does this even count as a cultural difference anymore, y'all.]

They are my heroic aspirations! I strive to be a hero worthy of the heritage that was bequeath to me by the greatest heroes known to man!

[ but he frowns at that and nods ]

Ah, unfortunately I did not receive much opportunity to attend school. [ idk i'm assuming there's some kind of school system, but between war and being on the run for your lives, it gets a little hard ]

... It's okay. Not everyone goes to school where I come from, either.

[Just putting that out there! Since there seem to be a lot of people from way different circumstances here. Fantastic clothing, confusing layers of reality, time travel and other bizarre things notwithstanding. She's just going with Occam's Razor until further notice here.]

But you say hero a lot, so what kind of hero are you looking to be? The kind that overthrows the government? The kind that steals from the rich and gives to the poor? The kind who wears all gold and punches people? I've seen so many different kinds already.

Ah, the sort of hero that is told about in legends! One who fights all manner of injustice and protects all those who require it!

[There's a brief pause, where her manner actually softens a little from outright joking, though her tone is still light when she answers.]

Hmm, but you don't even know where you are. Do you still want legends here?

For the moment, I do.

[ he, a person who has yet to see his profile, says ]

[She, a person who has taken some time to skim all the profiles, is trying to keep a poker face. She's okay at it?!]

Oh. Do you know him?

[ lucky for her his field of vision is somewhat crappy thanks to his mask ]

[The bright side of playing too many card games is that she's good at remembering foreign terms and esoteric names. Go figure.]

I can't claim we were on the exact same continent. If he was in the nation of Regna Ferox, he was in Ylisse. I was in Valm. Different continents, but the same world nonetheless.

Oh, right... There were a bunch of continents and countries.

[Fantasy genre-savvy aside, she really can't be expected to remember the geography of foreign worlds, or maps, or whatever they are. More importantly:]

We parted ways since then. [ it wasn't the first time either, given everything that happened before they joined chrom's army ] ... there's one other from our group. His cousin, I expect you'll meet her soon if you haven't already.

[Well, it sounds like there's history there. Hmm.]

... That's lucky. Having family here. [...] Is his cousin a lot like him?

[ hmm... ]

[Virtual girl can't help but make virtual jokes. She can't help it.]

I am pretty curious now, though.

[Curious about how far the 7th Grade Syndrome goes! Maybe it runs in families. That doesn't explain batguy here, but hey. Science isn't perfect.]

[ exasperated. calling it a "quest" makes her sound like owain. the curiosity he has nothing to say to. sorry not sorry, not his problem. ]

[There's a small laugh, she might have been needling him a little about his own profile, but he seems totally unaware of it -- so.]
