Intro log: Welcome to The Resort!

Before you even open your eyes, you can tell something is not right. It's cold. Not quite unbearably so, but cold enough that you can take notice of it. And as soon as you open your eyes, you will be able to see why it's so cold: you're in the middle of a snowy forest, with only a single two-lane road cutting through the thick trees.
Unfortunately, you seem to be without transportation. Fortunately, you are wearing warm clothes and snow gear, so freezing isn't an immediate problem. But without transportation, you're in for a long walk ahead of you.
There are others around as well. Other people, just as lost and confused as you are. Everyone seems to be lacking any memory that might explain why everyone is here. As far as anyone knows, all of you were just ripped out of your previous lives and dumped here on this snowy road, wearing snow gear and having any items that are important to you already on hand. And for some of you, you even have a new power, one that you somehow instantly know how to use...
Two ways to go: forward and back. Despite having no indication of which way is the 'right' way, you feel drawn towards one direction in particular. Going 'back' is possible, but you get the feeling that you will be even more lost if you try. And given that you have no food or water on you, it's best to keep moving forward.
So, are you ready to walk? Because you have a long road ahead of you.
((Welcome to The Resort! Your characters will have any objects or animals with them that they should have given their canon point, but are dressed in cold weather clothing.
This prompt is just the first part of the intro log. New top-levels will go up over the course of the weekend as everyone progresses from 'where the hell am I?' to the resort proper, and to getting settled in. For now, just start with this prompt. We'll link further updates here for easy access.))

I'm sure that your friends are looking for you.
[Firmly:]
Anyone whose life you've touched would notice that you're missing, you know?
no subject
[ Read as: they have each other to worry about. As if she's not a priority. ]
no subject
[Hm... that gets him a little concerned--the way that she says it is...]
... I don't know you very well, it's true, but...
[...]
Even so, I do think you're the sort of person who deserves to have hell raised for you.

But then her surprise soon diminishes and shifts into what seems to be a smile, but there's a lot of mixed emotions in it as her gaze shifts away from him. ]
Thanks for believing so, but... I really don't deserve it.
no subject
He wants to argue that, of course--it's his first instinct. But he doesn't really know her. He doesn't know why she would say that.
So that's...what he has to understand.]
... Why do you say that...?
no subject
[ She starts, but then she shakes her head, forcing her smile to relax just a smidge as she stops avoiding his gaze. ]
Just forget it, okay? It's not important.
no subject
[Quietly:]
I can't forget it... but I won't press. I don't want to force you to tell me anything you're not comfortable talking about.
[But even so...]
But I think I'd like to be your friend.
no subject
[...]
Why?
no subject
[...]
Because you're very kind.
[A nod, as if confirming to himself.]
You went out of your way to reassure me earlier... so I'm very sure of it.
no subject
"No, I'm not a kind person at all. You don't know me at all. I'm not that kind of person in the slightest bit. You're absolutely wrong."
--but instead, she replies with: ]
You're setting a really low standard if that's what you consider as kindness.
no subject
[Maybe he's easily pleased, but...]
I think you aren't giving yourself enough credit. We're all out of our depths here...and in a situation that's scary and alarming.
And yet... here you are. [Altruistically at that.]
no subject
[ She just... shrugs, trying to play it off as best as she can because she's already shown too much weakness in front of him and showing any more than that would make her seem worse. ]
I mean... we're in the same boat. It benefits me more to help you than to just leave you alone.
no subject
Right, of course.
[He won't call her on it; if she wants to play it off as no big deal, he'll let her for now. But to him... it's definitely a kindness, and she's definitely a kind person.
Either way...!!]
Let's keep walking, okay? It's a little too cold to stand around.
no subject
... Ah, yeah. [ Walking it is. And a change of topic: ] Where do you think this road's gonna lead us?
