Intro log: Welcome to The Resort!

INTRO LOG

Before you even open your eyes, you can tell something is not right. It's cold. Not quite unbearably so, but cold enough that you can take notice of it. And as soon as you open your eyes, you will be able to see why it's so cold: you're in the middle of a snowy forest, with only a single two-lane road cutting through the thick trees.

Unfortunately, you seem to be without transportation. Fortunately, you are wearing warm clothes and snow gear, so freezing isn't an immediate problem. But without transportation, you're in for a long walk ahead of you.

There are others around as well. Other people, just as lost and confused as you are. Everyone seems to be lacking any memory that might explain why everyone is here. As far as anyone knows, all of you were just ripped out of your previous lives and dumped here on this snowy road, wearing snow gear and having any items that are important to you already on hand. And for some of you, you even have a new power, one that you somehow instantly know how to use...

Two ways to go: forward and back. Despite having no indication of which way is the 'right' way, you feel drawn towards one direction in particular. Going 'back' is possible, but you get the feeling that you will be even more lost if you try. And given that you have no food or water on you, it's best to keep moving forward.

So, are you ready to walk? Because you have a long road ahead of you.

((Welcome to The Resort! Your characters will have any objects or animals with them that they should have given their canon point, but are dressed in cold weather clothing.

This prompt is just the first part of the intro log. New top-levels will go up over the course of the weekend as everyone progresses from 'where the hell am I?' to the resort proper, and to getting settled in. For now, just start with this prompt. We'll link further updates here for easy access.))

[There's a grunt.]

Well enough.

[He sounds more dismissive than proud.

Then Snake raises an eyebrow.]

The New York Aeronautics University?

[He hasn't heard of it, which isn't of immediate interest, but then there was her reaction.]

Yeah. Said they have the highest employment rate in the United States. At least, regarding aerospace careers.

[She crosses her arms. Clearly, he knows about outer space, right?]

I've been in stasis for who knows how long, though, so....

[personal profile] tacticalespionageaction 2018-11-26 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
...Aerospace careers?

[Huh.]

You're an astronaut?
xenoqueen: (Default)

[personal profile] xenoqueen 2018-11-26 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
...Technically, yes? I didn't do as much space walking as other people. Used to be a pilot for ships, actually, before I got promoted.

[i don't know how often they use the term astronaut in alien ok]

[personal profile] tacticalespionageaction 2018-11-26 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Pilot?

[Hnnrrhhrhghh?]

For spaceships?
xenoqueen: (02)

[personal profile] xenoqueen 2018-11-27 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
[Ripley gets the impression that this guy gets talked to a lot, and doesn't tend to do a lot of talking himself.]

Yes. Though I've really only piloted one real ship during my time. It's a lot less exciting, now that we've got computers calculating these things for us, but it's still important to know these skills just in case we're caught in a messy situation.
tacticalespionageaction: (hnnnrrrghhhh)

[personal profile] tacticalespionageaction 2018-11-27 09:54 am (UTC)(link)
Piloted? Computers?

[A contemplative hnnnrrrrhhhhghh]

Government must’ve kept that locked up tight, huh?

[Hes never heard of it, but no one was meant to hear about Metal Gear.]
xenoqueen: (13)

[personal profile] xenoqueen 2018-11-27 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
[In response, Ripley just sort of. Stares. At Snake.]

...Are you feeling alright? It's hardly been kept a secret at all the past century or so.

[...Of course, corporate corruption is a different matter altogether, but it's not like that's a secret, either. Anyone with two brain cells to knock together knows that all corporations are corrupt.]
tacticalespionageaction: (hhnngh)

[personal profile] tacticalespionageaction 2018-11-27 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
The past century?

[Squints.]

Space travel hasn't been an option for that long.
xenoqueen: (05)

[personal profile] xenoqueen 2018-11-27 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
[????]

This might be a weird question, but what year is it?
xenoqueen: (06)

[personal profile] xenoqueen 2018-11-27 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh. [...

There's a long pause. She just spoke to Ryoga, and he said it was 199...something.]

You sure about that? Because last I checked, it was 2122, and I don't think stasis makes you go back in time.
tacticalespionageaction: (just fuck of)

[personal profile] tacticalespionageaction 2018-11-27 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
What do you mean, 2122? Stasis?

[He narrows his eyes.]

Is this some kind of joke?
xenoqueen: (11)

[personal profile] xenoqueen 2018-11-27 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Does it look like I'm joking?

[She crosses her arms, a deadpan expression on her face.]

Look, last I know, I was drifting through space on a life vessel and heading back into stasis.
tacticalespionageaction: (mhhrrhh)

[personal profile] tacticalespionageaction 2018-11-27 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
[Snake doesn't know what to believe, but...she seems just as frustrated with the situation as he is. As ridiculous as it is, he'll give her the benefit of the doubt.]

Last I remember I was in Alaska, and our space travel wasn't that sophisticated yet.

[A grunt at certain...details.]

I can't tell you the rest.
