INTRO LOG

Before you even open your eyes, you can tell something is not right. It's cold. Not quite unbearably so, but cold enough that you can take notice of it. And as soon as you open your eyes, you will be able to see why it's so cold: you're in the middle of a snowy forest, with only a single two-lane road cutting through the thick trees.

Unfortunately, you seem to be without transportation. Fortunately, you are wearing warm clothes and snow gear, so freezing isn't an immediate problem. But without transportation, you're in for a long walk ahead of you.

There are others around as well. Other people, just as lost and confused as you are. Everyone seems to be lacking any memory that might explain why everyone is here. As far as anyone knows, all of you were just ripped out of your previous lives and dumped here on this snowy road, wearing snow gear and having any items that are important to you already on hand. And for some of you, you even have a new power, one that you somehow instantly know how to use...

Two ways to go: forward and back. Despite having no indication of which way is the 'right' way, you feel drawn towards one direction in particular. Going 'back' is possible, but you get the feeling that you will be even more lost if you try. And given that you have no food or water on you, it's best to keep moving forward.

So, are you ready to walk? Because you have a long road ahead of you.

((Welcome to The Resort! Your characters will have any objects or animals with them that they should have given their canon point, but are dressed in cold weather clothing.

This prompt is just the first part of the intro log. New top-levels will go up over the course of the weekend as everyone progresses from 'where the hell am I?' to the resort proper, and to getting settled in. For now, just start with this prompt. We'll link further updates here for easy access.))

[..... All those cosplayers earlier... might not have been cosplayers. Tsumugi is thankfully keeping her internal screaming at that realization to herself and mentally locking it away to deal with later in the privacy of her own room. Despite her attempts to calm down and reign in her emotions though, she can't keep the mix of surprise, disbelief, and awe out of her voice.]

J-just a Keyblade!? How can you be so casual about it!? It's- It's-

[A noise between a squee and and babbling escapes Tsumugi. You know what. She is okay with this. She can deal with the major crisis this is causing her internally later. For now? Fangirling.]

Amazing!

[ His eyebrows lift an impressive amount. This makes yet another moment he's unsure of how to respond in; this entire day has been pretty overwhelming, given he's pretty sure he's dead now. Just what kind of afterlife is this... ]

... The world you come from must have been pretty boring, then.

[ With that, he's giving a soft sigh. He re-summons the Keyblade, his gaze still resting on her as he does. He manages to keep his expression seemingly nonchalant. ]

If you think this is that amazing, I'm almost worried about how you'd handle everything else I can do.

[A pause and a strange expression flashes across her face. It's gone the next moment though.]

Well... you're not wrong. The most important thing in that world stopped airing... so yeah. It's definitely pretty boring now.

[A small laugh.]

It's embarrassing getting so excited over this.... but it's not everyday someone as plain as me sees things as extraordinary as this, you know?

[She's very clearly looking at every detail on the keyblade and mentally marking every detail and measurement. It's not everyday you actually get to reference the real thing if you ever want to make a prop for a fictional character.

Tsumugi pushes that to the back of her mind again. Nerd out now, crisis later.]

[ There's a tensing of his brow at the strange look, and it only increases at the strange wording. What the hell does she mean by "airing", exactly? ]

What does something getting- "aired" have to do with excitement?

[ He almost manages to avoid sounding awkward with that word. Almost. ]

[... Ah. Right. How to explain this to him...]

Well... do you know what a Tv show is?

[ He knows what a TV is, knows what shows are... so he thinks he can put the two together, well enough? ]

More-or-less.

When a TV show is airing, that means it's being broadcast. They usually stop airing a TV show when it's over....

[A sad sigh.]

So... for those ended shows, you say it's no longer airing.

[ He lifts his eyebrows. ]

I see. [ a beat ] What's so special about that one you were talking about?

Well...

[How to explain this in a way he'd get it... Oh!]

Have you ever had something or someone that made you feel complete and whole before? That when taken away, makes you feel incomplete... like there is a void in your chest. Like you're plain empty... and that feeling just plain hurts.

[

There's an unreadable look on his face at that description, though his eyes look not quite Right - pain, bitterness, anger, longing... It's brief, but it's very definitely there. This lasts for several seconds, and then he just gives one hell of an unstable smirk. ]

Not at all.

[Ah. She figured. There is an unreadable expression that flashes across her face, but it is quickly suppressed back into a neutral expression. Still... there's something in her eyes that seems off and empty for a moment.]

Well... I'm happy to hear that.

[A smile.]

[ The introduction at least distracts him from the whirlwind of emotions. He discreetly takes a deep breath, and then casually shifts his stance, the tension easing out as he does. ]

Vanitas.

[ tf is cosplaying or having two names ]

[Well, this just further confirms it for her, along with all his reactions so far. If her smile grows marginally, well, no one has to know. It's interesting at least.]

Well, Vanitas-kun, It's good to meet you.

[ And like the heathen he is, she's getting a simple: ]

Yeah.

[ Before he just. Walks off..... ]

[She's honestly surprised he didn't walk off sooner. Tsumugi watches him walk away for all of 5 seconds before walking off as well.]
