Intro log: Welcome to The Resort!

Before you even open your eyes, you can tell something is not right. It's cold. Not quite unbearably so, but cold enough that you can take notice of it. And as soon as you open your eyes, you will be able to see why it's so cold: you're in the middle of a snowy forest, with only a single two-lane road cutting through the thick trees.
Unfortunately, you seem to be without transportation. Fortunately, you are wearing warm clothes and snow gear, so freezing isn't an immediate problem. But without transportation, you're in for a long walk ahead of you.
There are others around as well. Other people, just as lost and confused as you are. Everyone seems to be lacking any memory that might explain why everyone is here. As far as anyone knows, all of you were just ripped out of your previous lives and dumped here on this snowy road, wearing snow gear and having any items that are important to you already on hand. And for some of you, you even have a new power, one that you somehow instantly know how to use...
Two ways to go: forward and back. Despite having no indication of which way is the 'right' way, you feel drawn towards one direction in particular. Going 'back' is possible, but you get the feeling that you will be even more lost if you try. And given that you have no food or water on you, it's best to keep moving forward.
So, are you ready to walk? Because you have a long road ahead of you.
((Welcome to The Resort! Your characters will have any objects or animals with them that they should have given their canon point, but are dressed in cold weather clothing.
This prompt is just the first part of the intro log. New top-levels will go up over the course of the weekend as everyone progresses from 'where the hell am I?' to the resort proper, and to getting settled in. For now, just start with this prompt. We'll link further updates here for easy access.))

[ That sounds like something from an anime, to be honest, even if Inaba herself hasn't watched too many in spite of her being a partial shut-in during middle school. ]
And AIs, huh. I haven't seen one this advanced before, and I've tinkered with programming a little.

[Welcome to card game anime, try not to get papercuts or to get stabbed by anyone's hair, though you're in luck -- you're meeting one of the few without the really stabby hair here. Rejoice.
Meta aside, she does lower her wrist after a moment, since it's not going to add anything new besides repeating its little message.]
I don't know too much programming myself, but I know that there have been big advancements in AI lately. This one is one of the latest models.
[She's not yet fully aware of just how much, but at the very least her own is advanced enough that she'll accept the compliment.]

[ She feels like she would have heard something about this if it's so recent and new, especially given that Inaba keeps up with the latest news over the internet. ]

[She's assuming that this is the case here, since Inaba didn't know about the duel disk itself -- explaining specialized mechanics like that she can do, since not everyone is familiar enough with Link VRAINS to know the ins and outs. But that does remind her of how they got onto the topic in the first place.
They really don't know a lot right now, either of them.]
Normally, it would be able to pinpoint exactly where I am, no matter what area of the network it is. I don't know if it's the weather here, or if it needs maintenance...
[Basic hacking she can do. Mechanical stuff? Eh.]
no subject
[ Inaba sounds a little skeptical to believe that, but. She supposes that's not important right now. ]
That's definitely weird. I could probably check my phone to see if Google maps would show us, but...
[ She doubts it'd work. ]
no subject
For now.]
... It can't hurt, if nothing else is working.
[And of course she didn't think of it, because see duel AI and the fact that avatars don't actually carry phones around. Technologyception in virtual reality is too much to parse at 1 AM OOC time.]

checks the app
and well ]
Nnnnnno signal. Of course.

[She sounds amused, though it's more directed at their general situation than Inaba's attempt. She did support it, after all. Granted, now that they've thrown everything at the wall with no sign of progress, the last thing left seems to be...]
Maybe walking is all we can do? It's kind of ridiculous, isn't it?
[Between all her avatar and AI functions and all their technology. Defeated by a mountain and a blizzard. Go figure.]
no subject
[ Just going to turn off her phone to save battery and pocket it. ]
I think it is pretty ridiculous. I hope we don't have to walk too much, though.

[She's not sure if it's more or less reassuring that all of them seem to have acquired new clothes somewhere between arriving and waking up, or possibly before. Considering her current form, she hadn't thought anything of it until people began muttering about it, but now...
Penguin theme aside, she's still not sure how much she should be worried about it.]
But it means we're not meant to freeze.
[Not right away, at least.]
no subject
[ The clothes are actually kind of nice, and in her style. She likes them. ]
Kind of glad we won't at least die immediately, though. [ She would also rather not die later either, however. ]
no subject
As for physical changing, she's not sure. She doesn't like the idea of her avatar being messed with, but it doesn't seem to have changed anything that she can tell. And she usually takes very good care of her avatar.]
Maybe if we can find... someone else, we'll be able to ask. I think there are enough of us where death isn't as much of a danger.
[She hopes. She doesn't know enough about survival or the area's parameters to say.]
no subject
Maybe we can... I mean, there's got to be other people up ahead, right?
no subject
[She hadn't seen anything like that no matter how many times she tried flying up, ahead, or in any other direction. No signs of human civilization at all on this mountain, apart from this road. And themselves.]
If there isn't anyone, maybe there will be a way to contact someone, at least.
[Spoken like a true city girl. She's just not used to being completely out of contact unless the circumstances are really drastic. And this still doesn't feel drastic yet.]
no subject
[ Inaba is also a city girl, so she honestly kind of gets it in many ways. But overall, this is all just a little concerning. ]
We'll just have to count our blessings.
