Intro log: Welcome to The Resort!

Before you even open your eyes, you can tell something is not right. It's cold. Not quite unbearably so, but cold enough that you can take notice of it. And as soon as you open your eyes, you will be able to see why it's so cold: you're in the middle of a snowy forest, with only a single two-lane road cutting through the thick trees.
Unfortunately, you seem to be without transportation. Fortunately, you are wearing warm clothes and snow gear, so freezing isn't an immediate problem. But without transportation, you're in for a long walk ahead of you.
There are others around as well. Other people, just as lost and confused as you are. Everyone seems to be lacking any memory that might explain why everyone is here. As far as anyone knows, all of you were just ripped out of your previous lives and dumped here on this snowy road, wearing snow gear and having any items that are important to you already on hand. And for some of you, you even have a new power, one that you somehow instantly know how to use...
Two ways to go: forward and back. Despite having no indication of which way is the 'right' way, you feel drawn towards one direction in particular. Going 'back' is possible, but you get the feeling that you will be even more lost if you try. And given that you have no food or water on you, it's best to keep moving forward.
So, are you ready to walk? Because you have a long road ahead of you.
((Welcome to The Resort! Your characters will have any objects or animals with them that they should have given their canon point, but are dressed in cold weather clothing.
This prompt is just the first part of the intro log. New top-levels will go up over the course of the weekend as everyone progresses from 'where the hell am I?' to the resort proper, and to getting settled in. For now, just start with this prompt. We'll link further updates here for easy access.))

done and I had a time trying to pick an icon for this exact moment
This is just the kind of place I'd wind up - where even the afterlife, or whatever-the-hell-this-is, mocks me! Who am I?
[ Even though the laughter is very definitely done, the look in his eyes hasn't faded. But, there's... something definitely missing. There's no indication he's going to be rushing the guy.
In fact, he kind of just... lets his arms drop. He's not even answering that damn question, apparently. The smirk on his lips is definitely more forced now. There's venom and... something disappointed and angry and generally conflicted lurking just beneath it. ]
No way am I kicking your ass while you can't even remember me, Ventus...
god bless
So he lingers, watching Vanitas' theatrics even before he speaks. At the very least, Roxas doesn't think the other is going to just attack him for no reason.
And then...he kind of wonders if Ventus is this guy's friend. But also, he can't believe the mistaken identity is happening like this. Mistaken identity round 2
his absolute worst nightmare. ]I'm not Ventus. I'm Roxas.
[ I'm me, no one else, he almost says out of a bit of frustration. ]
That's why I don't know who you are - you still haven't answered the question either.
it's a trainwreck already and I'm glad
Honestly, he hates how blind he feels in this place - blind and trapped...
Frustration momentarily mars his brow as he listens to the not-Ventus speak. Roxas...? His mind is scrambling with about a hundred different thoughts, all at once. Why does he have his face...?
Why is he trapped here with some guy that looks like him??
But he manages to take in a deep, slow breath. He holds it a moment. His gaze sharpens on this Roxas. ]
Vanitas.
[ His free hand is tightening into a fist, the one of his Keyblade tightening even more. If not for those red gloves that some random stranger put on him, along with the many layers of red and black he's stuck in, the whitening of his knuckles would be very telling. He wants to rush forward and... and...!!!
Augh...
It's after a moment, the Keyblade vanishes into a burst of light. He's feeling tempted to turn and walk away. Being around this guy is making him... uncomfortable, and he doesn't know why. Yet, instead of doing that, all he can do is stand there and look particularly tense with a hint of uncertainty in his eyes. ]
Same tbh...
...Finally, there's an answer out of this guy, and he's about to say something except for a moment he's watching Vanitas kind of have his own moment over there, not sure what to think of his turmoil. Now more or less because he's thinking it might be possible for the other to lash out, but it doesn't happen, and the Keyblade's out of sight.
That admittedly does get Roxas to relax some, even if it's not difficult to miss how tense Vanitas is. ]
...Vanitas, do you know anyone named Sora? And can you tell me more about Ventus?
[ It might be a long shot, because Roxas hasn't been inattentive of the Mistaken Identity problems and maybe it could extend to other people, but he's not seen that yet, so. ]
no subject
That tension increases, ever-so-slightly at the latter question. His eyes narrow a bit, and then he gives a sort of half-smirk. ]
There's not much to say. He's an idealistic idiot that I took down in a fight.
[ Something tired lurks in his tone, but it's barely detectable. Even less so as some distance enters his tone. ]
And, no... I don't know anyone named Sora. [ a beat; it shouldn't matter to him, but... ] Why?
no subject
...Really?
[ Roxas had a feeling he was dealing with someone particularly upset (putting it lightly), but he wasn't ready to hear something like that, but he's not sure if 'took down' means just traditional defeat or worse. Either way, Vanitas seemed like a familiar variable in a situation full of unknowns...as familiar as that can get with someone he's literally never met before. Partially it was because of the Keyblade Wielding and the other part just because he looked kind like Sora.
But before he can ask anymore for the moment, there's a question hurled his way instead. ]
He looks like you, except he has brown hair and blue eyes. I almost even thought you were him for a moment, like how you mistook me for that 'Ventus'.
...Does this person at least look a little different than I do?
no subject
He refused to get on the right path.
[ Yeeeeah... about that...
As for that last question, there's a soft snort. It sounds a bit more tired than someone might expect it to, with the kind of wry smirk he's wearing. ]
The clothes.
[ That's it; that's the difference. ]
no subject
...Great, so someone who basically looks like me is also walking around and hardly looks different at all.
[ And there's just some history here between his look-alike and Sora's look-alike. Something about that... it can't be just a coincidence. ]
What did you mean by 'right path'?
no subject
Simply a dark kind of humor. ]
"Walking around" might not be the right wording.
[ That question has a look of consideration surfacing, and then quickly fading. ]
Heh... Wouldn't you like to know?
no subject
...Yeah I would.
no subject
Well, maybe I'll tell you more about it, and maybe I won't.
[ He gives a somewhat vague hand gesture to the side, shrugging the respective shoulder in the same moment. He could easily think of a way to word it reasonably, and yet: ]
That'll depend on how I feel about it, later.
no subject
[ Apparently Roxas is not really inclining towards taking no for an answer. ]
But, I guess it'd be better if we talk when we're not outside. So let's work together to find some shelter for now, alright?
no subject
In case you couldn't guess, I don't exactly work well with others.
[ There's only one person, in all of the universes, that he worked well with - and even Master usually sent him off on his own, so... heh. In spite of his saying this, however, he's giving a brief shrug and a small gesture with one hand as he turns in the direction he was going (without starting to walk, just yet). ]
If you start to get in my way, I'm ditching you.
no subject
You're not going to need to worry about that.
[ Then, Roxas' lips draw briefly upwards into a smile that's seemingly conspiratorial, but not quite, as he begins to walk a little forward in the direction Vanitas turned towards. ]
But, I'll definitely slow down if you need it because I'm going too fast or something.
no subject
There's only a short gesture of his hand in response before he takes off - he might be moving kind of quickly, too. Let's see if you really can keep up, Big Talk. ]
no subject
[ Roxas didn't seem to expect him to actually race him, but at this point it's definitely ON! And you know what? He's actually not a slow person either, once he gets into it, dashing right after him, keeping pace. ]
Don't think you're going to win this!
no subject
But, well. Whatever. That guy is... not boring, so far. ]
