Intro log: Welcome to The Resort!

INTRO LOG

Before you even open your eyes, you can tell something is not right. It's cold. Not quite unbearably so, but cold enough that you can take notice of it. And as soon as you open your eyes, you will be able to see why it's so cold: you're in the middle of a snowy forest, with only a single two-lane road cutting through the thick trees.

Unfortunately, you seem to be without transportation. Fortunately, you are wearing warm clothes and snow gear, so freezing isn't an immediate problem. But without transportation, you're in for a long walk ahead of you.

There are others around as well. Other people, just as lost and confused as you are. Everyone seems to be lacking any memory that might explain why everyone is here. As far as anyone knows, all of you were just ripped out of your previous lives and dumped here on this snowy road, wearing snow gear and having any items that are important to you already on hand. And for some of you, you even have a new power, one that you somehow instantly know how to use...

Two ways to go: forward and back. Despite having no indication of which way is the 'right' way, you feel drawn towards one direction in particular. Going 'back' is possible, but you get the feeling that you will be even more lost if you try. And given that you have no food or water on you, it's best to keep moving forward.

So, are you ready to walk? Because you have a long road ahead of you.



((Welcome to The Resort! Your characters will have any objects or animals with them that they should have given their canon point, but are dressed in cold weather clothing.

This prompt is just the first part of the intro log. New top-levels will go up over the course of the weekend as everyone progresses from 'where the hell am I?' to the resort proper, and to getting settled in. For now, just start with this prompt. We'll link further updates here for easy access.))

[ She's doubting this, but she knows when not to press too hard. So she sighs, instead coming up with a not-so-serious quip: ]

Your bladder must love you then. Am I allowed to keep this?

Of course.

[he answers easily, and then he tugs his hat further down on his head, so it covers his ears]

Don't drink it all in one go. Keep it to warm you up when you get a little too chilly.

Thank you, mysterious cat stranger.

[ She's half-serious about that comment. ] And I wasn't going to. I actually like savoring my drinks.

[ Although she is going to somewhat skeptically take a sip of it to see if she likes it or not. Hopefully it tastes fine and she's not somehow poisoned... ]

[purrtagonist]

Kurusu Akira. But I do like the sound of mysterious cat stranger.

[ha!]

[the coffee is fucking delicious, despite being like. a week old. not that he's telling her that]

[dereban]

I'm not calling you that this whole time, Kurusu.

[ Good to know that coffee is good, though. Still pointedly not introducing herself. ]

It's too long. [ That's why?! ]

[purrtagonist]

You were the one who came up with it.

[you could've picked a shorter name, Inaba!]

[dereban]

That might be true, but I wasn't going to plan on calling you that the whole time! At least, not until I found out what your name was...

[ Inaba Himeko is absolutely trying her best. Her best isn't great. ]

[purrtagonist]

As you very pointedly don't tell me yours?

[yep, calling her out on that one. but he sounds more amused than offended]

[dereban]

Yep.

[ Takes another small sip of coffee, as if she's not going to even bother telling him her name, but after a while: ]

It's Inaba Himeko, by the way.

[purrtagonist]

Inaba-san.

[how polite of him]

Glad you told me. Otherwise, I would've just made something up.

[. . . how impolite of him. . .]

[dereban]

[ Does she dare ask. ]

What would you have even called me if I didn't?

[ She's asking. ]

[purrtagonist]

To be determined.

[he would've made something up on the spot]

[or maybe he would've called her to be determined? META JOKE]

Maaaaaybe I'm glad I didn't find out.

[ Just going to go right on ahead to put the thermos in her schoolbag pocket now though. ]

[purrtagonist]

[good!! he's glad to see his coffee is getting some legitimate use]

Should we keep walking?

[dereban]

[ Inaba. . . actually likes coffee, is frugal, and does not want good coffee to go to waste regardless of how old it is?? ]

Better than sticking around here, that's for sure. Wherever 'here' is. Since it's definitely not the last place I remember being.

[purrtagonist]

[aha. he turns his gaze towards her again, attention immediately arrested by what she said]

. . . it isn't the last place I remember being, either.

[dereban]

Sounds like we should make a "go home" club. Everyone else I've talked to has been saying that, too.

[ And she's asked plenty of people already it seems. ]

[purrtagonist]

Technically, I'm already a part of the "go home" club.

[. . . meaning he does no school extracurricular activities and just goes home after classes every day, but anyway]

[dereban]

Lucky. My school kind of makes it mandatory to take a club.

[ She says that in a way where you can hear slight exasperation but she doesn't seem to be remotely annoyed or even flat out jealous, really. ]

[purrtagonist]

Hm?

[curious!]

And which one did you pick?

[dereban]

I was in the computer club for a while.

[ Until she got kicked out due to a stupid disagreement that she had with the president. ]

And now I'm just the vice president of the Student Cultural Society Club. StuCS for short.

[purrtagonist]

[just like Makoto. . . or, well. similar to Makoto]

Mmm. Do you enjoy it?

[dereban]

It's fun. We mostly slack off, but when we have to do club work, I'm always the one in charge, since our club president is, well. . . she's herself, I guess.

[ That explains nothing. ]

[purrtagonist]

[that explains nothing, but Akira feels a flicker of amusement anyway]

Ah. You're the ruler from the shadows, then.

I mean. I guess? I have to make sure that they get their shit together before deadlines.
