INTRO LOG

Before you even open your eyes, you can tell something is not right. It's cold. Not quite unbearably so, but cold enough that you can take notice of it. And as soon as you open your eyes, you will be able to see why it's so cold: you're in the middle of a snowy forest, with only a single two-lane road cutting through the thick trees.

Unfortunately, you seem to be without transportation. Fortunately, you are wearing warm clothes and snow gear, so freezing isn't an immediate problem. But without transportation, you're in for a long walk ahead of you.

There are others around as well. Other people, just as lost and confused as you are. Everyone seems to be lacking any memory that might explain why everyone is here. As far as anyone knows, all of you were just ripped out of your previous lives and dumped here on this snowy road, wearing snow gear and having any items that are important to you already on hand. And for some of you, you even have a new power, one that you somehow instantly know how to use...

Two ways to go: forward and back. Despite having no indication of which way is the 'right' way, you feel drawn towards one direction in particular. Going 'back' is possible, but you get the feeling that you will be even more lost if you try. And given that you have no food or water on you, it's best to keep moving forward.

So, are you ready to walk? Because you have a long road ahead of you.

((Welcome to The Resort! Your characters will have any objects or animals with them that they should have given their canon point, but are dressed in cold weather clothing.

This prompt is just the first part of the intro log. New top-levels will go up over the course of the weekend as everyone progresses from 'where the hell am I?' to the resort proper, and to getting settled in. For now, just start with this prompt. We'll link further updates here for easy access.))

What are you— [ And then there's a mace and hell no. Immediately, he holds up his axe. ] Minerva, behind me!

[ Minerva obviously doesn't obey and instead SCREECHES at Cinque. She's a proud, noble wyvern don't need no rider. ]

[Look, she is absolutely not Cinque's babysitter and would never want to be, but fresh off reading those damn rules and seeing two people about to go at it in the middle of the lobby and a discussion that she is trying to have (though really it's just a complaining session, probably)... Yeah, it's not like Blue Angel can just ignore this.]

--Hold it!

[There's a cracking sound, and a glowing blue snake of a whip flashes into existence to wrap itself around the head of Cinque's mace. She could probably still swing it if she was really determined, but Blue Angel has enough leverage to at least interfere.]

What do you think you're doing? Some of us are trying to talk here!

I'm going to-

[ Whatever she's about to say is cut off as she winds up for the swing and snags something? ]

Whoa! [ She sees the whip and follows it back to Aoi. ]

But there's a dragon here without it's rider.

[ You look too big to ride, Batman ]

I'm her rider! [ not that she needs a rider, as has been established in meta. ]

Huh? But you're such a huge dude! You would squish her.

Er... Yes, well, ordinarily she is not this... small.

[ It's okay sometimes a dudes dragon is smaller in cold climates ]

Huh? Did you switch sizes with her?

[ minervas never had this problem before, he swears ]

No.

[She probably shouldn't facepalm while she's trying to rein in Cinque's big honkin' mace with the other hand, but you know what? She's going to go ahead and do it anyway.]

There was... somebody I met out on the road, who said her pets were also smaller than they should be. Maybe something happened to them, I don't know.

[She's fully prepared to accept shrinking rays on top of hacker collectives on top of avatar 3D printing at this point in her life. With that, though, she rounds on Cinque again.]

Look, can you think before you start swinging? It was the same with the jacuzzi! Don't drag the rest of us in if you're going to blow things up or hit things!

[ Here, she'll help out by making her mace disappear. ]

Hehe. Uh oh I'm in trouble.

[ She rocks back and forth as she says that. ]

Usually riders are a whole lot smaller.

[ he heard that. but okay, if cinque isn't going to attack minerva and the blue one is chastising her, he has no reason to be here anymore.

he lowers his axe and starts walking away. have fun two you. ]

[There's a small shake of the head before Blue Angel also retracts her whip; she's going to have to figure out what the hell is up with the dragon later (likely there's no good explanation either, it might just be a dragon, which is fine too). For now, she has a Cinque to collar.]

Of course you're in trouble, but it's better than being in trouble with the staff. Or the rats.

[She gives her a little cuff on the shoulder, but it's more of a light reprimand than an actual punishment.]

Don't go picking fights, and use your words! It's not safe to pick too many fights here, no matter how big your mace is.

[ Pls find out and tell her because it still doesn't make sense. Rider WAY TOO BIG even accounting for the shrinking of the critter. His world sounds very strange so far! ]

Okaaaaay. I won't pick any fights without using my words.

[ Also it's not about the size of the mace, but how hard to hit with it, Aoi! ]

[It's a figure of speech, wow. And honestly, the size of the mace relative to the size of the girl is almost as odd as the size of the dragon relative to the size of the rider, so she is totally going to remark on it.

Good. I'm not here to clean up your mess, but since we're living together, we gotta do our best. And I don't want to be blown up.

[She relaxes her stern face a little, though.]

Anyway, how come you know about dragons?

[ Hey she knows how to use it! ]

Don't worry, I don't have any bombs on me!

[ She's not the bomb expert after all. ]

There's a Kingdom that lives beside them! They used to be our allies, but then a lot happened and we had to fight against them.

That's really not the point...

[There's an exasperated sigh, but she's really not in the mood to explain or argue anymore right now, anyway. Like she said, she's not here to clean up all the mess, and that includes Cinque's 50,001 misconceptions per hour!!]

A Kingdom that lives with... dragons? Wouldn't that be really hard to fight against?

[At least it explains why she tried to mace the dragon first off...]

It was hard, but not as hard as the giant boss one! We all nearly died fighting that one.

[ It was soooooooo hard ]

The giant boss dragon? Why were you fighting your country's wars, anyway...

[She sounds a little dubious because Cinque + battlefield = ??? even if she remembers certain odd little snippets of her profile that just seemed like they'd been pasted on the wrong person. Hm. Also the mace is a thing, yes. And the possible pyro tendencies.]

There weren't a lot of soldiers left so they decided to use us cadets. The school was a lot more quiet after that...

[ She can't remember the faces, but she remembers the noise. And then remembers how it suddenly felt a lot more lonely there :< ]

Did... you win?

[It really seems like a bad joke to call it winning despite what little she knows of the situation, but she keeps getting hit with stuff like this so she's just sort of slowly absorbing it. Man.]

[ Is it winning if you die in the end?

She'll think for a moment before slowly nodding. ]

We ended the war and made everything better for everyone. A brighter and better future.

And now you're here.

[It probably rankles, if you ended one war only to get tossed into whatever this is.

It's still going to take her a little bit of time to figure out exactly where Cinque is coming from, in her funny mix of childishness and war and noise and warmth, but for now she can understand a little better. What she's left behind and who.]
