INTRO LOG

Before you even open your eyes, you can tell something is not right. It's cold. Not quite unbearably so, but cold enough that you can take notice of it. And as soon as you open your eyes, you will be able to see why it's so cold: you're in the middle of a snowy forest, with only a single two-lane road cutting through the thick trees.

Unfortunately, you seem to be without transportation. Fortunately, you are wearing warm clothes and snow gear, so freezing isn't an immediate problem. But without transportation, you're in for a long walk ahead of you.

There are others around as well. Other people, just as lost and confused as you are. Everyone seems to be lacking any memory that might explain why everyone is here. As far as anyone knows, all of you were just ripped out of your previous lives and dumped here on this snowy road, wearing snow gear and having any items that are important to you already on hand. And for some of you, you even have a new power, one that you somehow instantly know how to use...

Two ways to go: forward and back. Despite having no indication of which way is the 'right' way, you feel drawn towards one direction in particular. Going 'back' is possible, but you get the feeling that you will be even more lost if you try. And given that you have no food or water on you, it's best to keep moving forward.

So, are you ready to walk? Because you have a long road ahead of you.

((Welcome to The Resort! Your characters will have any objects or animals with them that they should have given their canon point, but are dressed in cold weather clothing.

This prompt is just the first part of the intro log. New top-levels will go up over the course of the weekend as everyone progresses from 'where the hell am I?' to the resort proper, and to getting settled in. For now, just start with this prompt. We'll link further updates here for easy access.))

[if it's a stare off, Akira loses when his expression softens and a smile twitches up the corners of his mouth]

[but the smile vanishes in an instant, because there's something important he has to ask]

Are you okay? You're not hurt, are you?

[she's actually going to pull the thermos in a little-- she's not optimistic that it'll be warm, but, it's something.]

I'm fine, don't worry. I've even managed to avoid stray snowballs so far.

I haven't seen anyone hurt, actually... And we're not the only ones confused.

[more relief, and he sets his jaw and nods at her firmly, his expression taking on a business-like edge]

That's good, but. . . weird. Is this. . . a mass kidnapping?

I... think so, somehow.

The other strange thing? These aren't my clothes.

[she would have bought them, but... they're definitely not ones she owns.]

Ah.

[right. the one thing he wasn't trying to think too hard about, because who changed them]

And these aren't mine. Even if I do kind of like the hat.

[FIDDLES WITH THE CAT EARS]

[unfortunately she... was bound to notice and comment on it, though she does offer a very, very small smile at the cap, but... honestly, the situation's a little too weird for her to roll with it, at least right then.]

... Mm. But you still had coffee?

Not just the coffee.

[he rolls his bag to his elbow and reaches inside to pull out. . . a very familiar buchi calculator]

I have everything I had on me at the last moment I remember.

I can relate...

[she reaches into her pocket, and pulls out her brass knuckles, or at least one of them]

Very interesting...

[a flash of amusement appears in Akira's expression, but unfortunately he didn't arrive with any weapons. what's up with that??]

So whoever brought us here didn't bother disarming us first.

Huh. That's cocky of them.

I think it's safer to say that they bothered giving us weapons.

[given the clothes situation, after all. and she figures the intent is different enough between those two statements that it's worth clarifying.]

[he takes a step forward, foot sinking into the snow. time to walk]

. . . what even lives in these woods?

[too bad it's not the snowy forest he has to worry about]

[she doesn't know what to think, except she still doesn't like the directional nudge she's feeling.]

I'm not sure. I hope it's normal things, like foxes or bears. [and not yurei or other evil spirits... she shifts a little closer to him at that thought.] By the way, do you feel like there's a "right" direction to go in?

[Akira jerks his thumb towards the path ahead]

Like something is pulling us forward, right?

Yes, exactly like that.

[her face clearly says she doesn't like it.]

[yyyeah he doesn't either, evident by the way his own expression hardens]

. . . what lies ahead of us, I wonder?
