INTRO LOG

Before you even open your eyes, you can tell something is not right. It's cold. Not quite unbearably so, but cold enough that you can take notice of it. And as soon as you open your eyes, you will be able to see why it's so cold: you're in the middle of a snowy forest, with only a single two-lane road cutting through the thick trees.

Unfortunately, you seem to be without transportation. Fortunately, you are wearing warm clothes and snow gear, so freezing isn't an immediate problem. But without transportation, you're in for a long walk ahead of you.

There are others around as well. Other people, just as lost and confused as you are. Everyone seems to be lacking any memory that might explain why everyone is here. As far as anyone knows, all of you were just ripped out of your previous lives and dumped here on this snowy road, wearing snow gear and having any items that are important to you already on hand. And for some of you, you even have a new power, one that you somehow instantly know how to use...

Two ways to go: forward and back. Despite having no indication of which way is the 'right' way, you feel drawn towards one direction in particular. Going 'back' is possible, but you get the feeling that you will be even more lost if you try. And given that you have no food or water on you, it's best to keep moving forward.

So, are you ready to walk? Because you have a long road ahead of you.

((Welcome to The Resort! Your characters will have any objects or animals with them that they should have given their canon point, but are dressed in cold weather clothing.

This prompt is just the first part of the intro log. New top-levels will go up over the course of the weekend as everyone progresses from 'where the hell am I?' to the resort proper, and to getting settled in. For now, just start with this prompt. We'll link further updates here for easy access.))

[ In a very casual (but also kind of obviously "no shit" sort of) tone: ]

Nope. I just wanted to be able to cross off "shove the first idiot I see" from today's to-do list.

[ Internally, however, there's a screaming song of UGH...!!! Why is he following him!!!

... that doesn't remotely match the straight face as he very quietly sighs and comes to a pause. ]

Planning to pay me back or just that lonely?

[He doesn't seem to mind, at least.]

No, it's nothing like that... but I'm not really sure any of us should be wandering off alone, either. It could be pretty dangerous.

[ There's a snort, even though he manages to resist the urge to roll his eyes. ]

I'm nobody to waste time worrying about.

[ And just. Going to continue walking now! ]

If you're gonna worry about anyone, it should be yourself.

I don't really see why it has to be one or the other...

[He can worry about himself and this grumpy guy at the same time!!]

Besides, I think that just makes me worry more. Do you mind if I come along?

[ Ugh, why are protags always like this!!! ]

You think it just makes you worry more?

[ And yet he hasn't answered that last question...

Hmmm...! ]

[It's in their blood!! Also he's interpreting a lack of answer as a "yes", tyvm.]

Well...yes. I don't know you that well yet, so I can't say for sure. But I do feel pretty concerned...

[SO HERE HE IS.]

I'll just have to get to know you better, so I can be sure in the future.

[ That doesn't explain much!!! ~~Kingdom Hearts people don't have blood, doncha know.~~

There's genuine confusion in his eyes as he hears that last part, though it's followed by something more... default, for him: anger, frustration, mockery.

Clearly, this guy is either an idiot or just??? trying to set him up??? Like some kind of damn game. Or, as he suggested before, he's just that desperately lonely. A thought that has something unpleasant curling in the pit of his stomach - he doesn't begin to know exactly why. After a moment, there's a widening smirk. ]

Or I could save you the trouble: there's nothing worth getting to know, here.

[It could be so many things.... so many reasons.

But for Minato's part, he just blinks patiently at Vanitas' words, and then shakes his head. His tone is just as peaceful, really.]

I don't believe that at all. I think everyone has something worth getting to know about them.

You've already been interesting to talk to, so...that's the case for you too. I'm excited to get to know you better.

[ What.

What even.

????????????

He manages to keep most of his confusion from showing (as actual confusion, at least), a smirk of disbelief being the primary thing surfacing on his face. ]

You're excited to get to know the guy who, not only shoved you down, but has been anything other than welcoming to you? Are you some kind of masochist?

No, I don't think it's that, exactly.

[But he takes it relatively well.]

This is a stressful situation for a lot of people. I'm not expecting you to go out of your way to be kind to me. I'd just like to get to know you anyway, if that's okay.

[ That just gets a sigh out of him - one just a little heavier than he'd have liked, at that. ]

I'm not the boss of you.

[ Which is as close to agreement as this guy will ever get from him, with this. Also, there's a dim smirk as he adds: ]

Not that I'll be buddying up or even answering anything.

[He's definitely taking that as a yes, thanks.]

That's okay.

[So peacefully!]

I don't really mind that. Rather... I don't want you to feel pressured to do anything you're not comfortable doing, or to be anyone you're not comfortable being, if that makes sense...?

[He chose to follow Vanitas as Vanitas, so it's not like he wants him to be a different person.]

[ Somewhere between "anything you're not" and "not comfortable being", there's something just a tad bit... darker appearing in his expression. Something tense - well, more like something outright bitter - flashes in his eyes. Though, it's quickly followed by a broad smirk as he cocks his head to the side a little. ]

Well, we can't always get what we want, can we?

[ The lingering tension might be visible on his face and in his eyes. It would seem he's... not explaining what he means by that. ]

[... Oh?

That's not a response he was expecting at all; Minato blinks slowly, and then frowns a little.]

...What do you mean? Has...someone tried to do that to you before?

[ His jawline is tightened, and then he gives a half-smirk. ]

Maybe.

[ It's up for Minato's interpretation, but it's honestly just that he isn't going to give a straight answer here. Maybe it'll be obvious some part of him is actually fascinated, at this point.

Who knows, maybe Mr. Stubborn will have a better chance getting more out of Vanitas, whenever they're... not out here. ]

[...Well, he can tell when a question is being ducked.]

It's okay if you don't want to talk to me about something, you know...

I just want you to know that you can tell me, and I'll stop asking. I don't want to make you uncomfortable.

[ There's a look of... slight frustration, and then he's glancing away.

Heeeee might be going quiet as he just. Continues walking. ]
