Intro log: Welcome to The Resort!

INTRO LOG

Before you even open your eyes, you can tell something is not right. It's cold. Not quite unbearably so, but cold enough that you can take notice of it. And as soon as you open your eyes, you will be able to see why it's so cold: you're in the middle of a snowy forest, with only a single two-lane road cutting through the thick trees.

Unfortunately, you seem to be without transportation. Fortunately, you are wearing warm clothes and snow gear, so freezing isn't an immediate problem. But without transportation, you're in for a long walk ahead of you.

There are others around as well. Other people, just as lost and confused as you are. Everyone seems to be lacking any memory that might explain why everyone is here. As far as anyone knows, all of you were just ripped out of your previous lives and dumped here on this snowy road, wearing snow gear and having any items that are important to you already on hand. And for some of you, you even have a new power, one that you somehow instantly know how to use...

Two ways to go: forward and back. Despite having no indication of which way is the 'right' way, you feel drawn towards one direction in particular. Going 'back' is possible, but you get the feeling that you will be even more lost if you try. And given that you have no food or water on you, it's best to keep moving forward.

So, are you ready to walk? Because you have a long road ahead of you.



((Welcome to The Resort! Your characters will have any objects or animals with them that they should have given their canon point, but are dressed in cold weather clothing.

This prompt is just the first part of the intro log. New top-levels will go up over the course of the weekend as everyone progresses from 'where the hell am I?' to the resort proper, and to getting settled in. For now, just start with this prompt. We'll link further updates here for easy access.))

If they knew how to save me, they would have done it the first day!

[He rubs his temple.]

Ugh maybe I'm dreaming, or I'm being pranked and everyone's in on it...

Well, not necessarily. Maybe they only found out you existed today. You're not the center of the universe, you know. I hope it's not a prank. I'm terrible at keeping secrets. I would've blown that cover long ago. Unless we're both the only ones not in on it, but that doesn't make much sense, either.

It could be the case.

But you don't understand, if they found out I existed today, they would have picked me up forever ago!

[I... am so sorry Medic.]

[blutsauger]

[Pauses. Blinks.] Can you explain that again? [He's honestly just assuming that whatever part of his brain that understands English short-circuited and got words mixed up. It wouldn't be the first time.]

You wouldn't believe me...

[... Ah what the hell.]

I've been stuck living the same day over and over again. For years now.

[blutsauger]

... My friend, there are a lot of things I will believe. This is one of them. Do you know why it happened? Magician's curse, medical anomaly, purgatory...

[imstuck]

[He folds his arms.]

Because the universe has it out for me, that's my best guess.

[blutsauger]

Not necessarily. You could just be caught in the crossfire in some cosmic feud that has nothing to do with you.

[Which Medic can relate to, though it's not on a cosmic level.]

[imstuck]

Sure did pick a great day to start a cosmic feud if that's the case. They couldn't have picked a worse day to stick me into a timeloop.

[blutsauger]

Are we talking "horrible end-of-times catastrophic events" bad day or "you were severely inconvenienced" bad day? Important distinction.

[He's not trying to minimize Phil's problems he's genuinely trying to get a good idea of how bad it was]

The way you say that makes it seem like I’m reacting over nothing.

[Look medic.]

What? [Medic looks confused for a moment. Then-] Oh! No, no, not at all. Being severely inconvenienced the same way over and over with no way to change it for years is still awful, ja? But awful in a different way than "nuclear bomb dropped, killing everyone, and then you relive that exact same day over and over again with no way to change it for years."

[imstuck]

At least in the later situation, you'd probably have someone to bond with over it.

But no, I guess you can say I've been "severely inconvenienced" on the day.

I might be able to tolerate it more if I could at least leave town at all.

[blutsauger]

Why? Are you in prison?

[imstuck]

[He shakes his head.]

Blizzard, actually.

[He looks outside. Yeah that might... be why he didn't catch on to the whole "we've been kidnapped and taken to another place" thing until just now.]

[blutsauger]

Ooooh.

Into the the fire and out of the frying pot, ja?

Depends on what you consider the frying pot and fire, but that's the basics.

I swear to god I think I'm going to die before I see another warm day.
