INTRO LOG

Before you even open your eyes, you can tell something is not right. It's cold. Not quite unbearably so, but cold enough that you can take notice of it. And as soon as you open your eyes, you will be able to see why it's so cold: you're in the middle of a snowy forest, with only a single two-lane road cutting through the thick trees.

Unfortunately, you seem to be without transportation. Fortunately, you are wearing warm clothes and snow gear, so freezing isn't an immediate problem. But without transportation, you're in for a long walk ahead of you.

There are others around as well. Other people, just as lost and confused as you are. Everyone seems to be lacking any memory that might explain why everyone is here. As far as anyone knows, all of you were just ripped out of your previous lives and dumped here on this snowy road, wearing snow gear and having any items that are important to you already on hand. And for some of you, you even have a new power, one that you somehow instantly know how to use...

Two ways to go: forward and back. Despite having no indication of which way is the 'right' way, you feel drawn towards one direction in particular. Going 'back' is possible, but you get the feeling that you will be even more lost if you try. And given that you have no food or water on you, it's best to keep moving forward.

So, are you ready to walk? Because you have a long road ahead of you.

((Welcome to The Resort! Your characters will have any objects or animals with them that they should have given their canon point, but are dressed in cold weather clothing.

This prompt is just the first part of the intro log. New top-levels will go up over the course of the weekend as everyone progresses from 'where the hell am I?' to the resort proper, and to getting settled in. For now, just start with this prompt. We'll link further updates here for easy access.))

[She may be a sparkly magical girl, but she calls it like it is, especially when it comes to unfortunate performances! She's faintly embarrassed for you, dude, now that we're here looking back over the monologue she just walked into.]

Hmm. You've never been in a blizzard?

[She. May be in another reality bubble of her own where VR is confusing to distinguish from reality, so they're really going to be productive at dealing with the situation at hand here.]

Let me give you some advice, okay? If you mess up, the most important thing is to keep going like you didn't! Do-overs are pretty uncool, you know?

[And while she's been pretty low-key for someone dressed like she is, here she pulls out a smidge of that idol persona to wink conspiratorially.]

Oh, I've been in plenty of blizzards! I was born in the snowy region of Regna Ferox, after all, and was on my way there to visit my parents. But it's certainly different to wake up in a blizzard.

But, I appreciate the advice. Sometimes it's hard to get back on track once you lose your place, so I'll work on that.

The key is to practice even for the situations where you lose your place. That would be how the professionals do it.

[Can she really be called a professional? She's totally claiming it. Not many people would contradict her on that.]

And what's this Regna Ferox? I've definitely never heard of it.

[She should really not be indulging the chuuni, but it's not like he's the first person she's met like this. And on the bright side, he doesn't seem to be a fan or anything, not that she knows how likely that is around here what with no one seeming to recognize her, so she can mess around a bit.]

I see, that certainly makes sense! It's certainly one thing to practice your grandiose speeches but you're right that they lose appeal if you stop in the middle of them.

[ he's nodding along, already planning on this practice ]

Ah, Regna Ferox! A large country that borders both the countries of Plegia and Ylisse. Separated in two due to the traditions of the West and East Khans, only one may rule at a time the entire country! My father, a most valiant swordsman, currently serves as the champion of the West Khan, fighting for him in the arena when the time comes for the Khans to determine who may next rule the country.

[ owain pauses and looks at her ]

Are you from Valm them? If you haven't heard of Regna Ferox.

[She's totally not sure what she's helped unleash, or encourage, but hey. They're in the middle of a blizzard in the middle of nowhere, things can only look up from here. This is a good distraction, at least.

She listens with a thoughtful expression that just gets more blank as he goes on, though. She's not exactly a bad student, but, uhhhhh.]

... I haven't heard of those countries, or of Khans. Or Valm, come to think of it. I'm from... Den City, in the country of Japan. Or... [a small frown] Link VRAINS, but there are no countries there.

[Look, all of the places he keeps mentioning could be from a game map? So like. Let's cover our bases.]

Hmm, and likewise, I have not heard of Japan, nor of Link VRAINS.

Perhaps we come from different worlds?

[Technically that's not incorrect terminology unless you start applying it to not-virtual-reality, and then it starts getting hairy. And is this guy dramatic enough to remove Japan or Earth from the equation altogether?? Some people are really committed to their craft...]

I could understand not having Link VRAINS, but without Japan? That's going a little far, isn't it?

Tell me, the name of the continent that Japan is located on?
