INTRO LOG

Before you even open your eyes, you can tell something is not right. It's cold. Not quite unbearably so, but cold enough that you can take notice of it. And as soon as you open your eyes, you will be able to see why it's so cold: you're in the middle of a snowy forest, with only a single two-lane road cutting through the thick trees.

Unfortunately, you seem to be without transportation. Fortunately, you are wearing warm clothes and snow gear, so freezing isn't an immediate problem. But without transportation, you're in for a long walk ahead of you.

There are others around as well. Other people, just as lost and confused as you are. Everyone seems to be lacking any memory that might explain why everyone is here. As far as anyone knows, all of you were just ripped out of your previous lives and dumped here on this snowy road, wearing snow gear and having any items that are important to you already on hand. And for some of you, you even have a new power, one that you somehow instantly know how to use...

Two ways to go: forward and back. Despite having no indication of which way is the 'right' way, you feel drawn towards one direction in particular. Going 'back' is possible, but you get the feeling that you will be even more lost if you try. And given that you have no food or water on you, it's best to keep moving forward.

So, are you ready to walk? Because you have a long road ahead of you.

((Welcome to The Resort! Your characters will have any objects or animals with them that they should have given their canon point, but are dressed in cold weather clothing.

This prompt is just the first part of the intro log. New top-levels will go up over the course of the weekend as everyone progresses from 'where the hell am I?' to the resort proper, and to getting settled in. For now, just start with this prompt. We'll link further updates here for easy access.))

Yeah you gotta be careful here. You don't want the carrots to attack you or anything while you're in the kitchen.

[The Chef looks affronted at the comment - and also rushing around?? for some reason? Most likely busy preparing all the food for the new guests.

There IS a rather large freezer in the corner, though - a walk in one, even. The rest of the kitchen looks incredibly normal.]

[Thanks Phil. Snake looks over his shoulder to him, then over to the freezer with a grunt.]

You can never be too careful.

[He's gonna go stealth off towards it, trying his best to avoid the staff with all that sneaky snakeness.]

[... Ok how fast is he going because Phil is tempted to just walk by him and open up the freezer before him.]

[With all the speediness the PS1 can muster.

Go on right ahead Phil.]

[Ok great he's just going to stroll past Snake and open up the freezer then.]

[THERE'S BODIES IN THE FREEZER

...Cow, pig, and chicken bodies, that is. They're hanging from hooks in the room, large hanks all properly frozen until use. a big Resort like this takes a lotta meat! There's also other frozen things stacked here and there...

And also a rather large black bag in the corner.]

[Well that's gross but normal and- ok that bag doesn't look great]

Yeah, I'm calling "not it" on opening the ominous freezer bag.

[Snake grunt-scoffs. This is why he goes first.]

Just stay back here. Keep an eye out.

[Not like he thinks Phil will be super useful at that but, still. He moves towards the bag to open it with some caution.]

[There issss -

Freezerburnt pieces of meat in here. A rib, some other assorted bits - nothing too huge -

um.

Wait.

What's at the bottom of the bag? Without reaching in for it, you can't seem to see it very well...]

[... Oh that's something.]

Do you think it will turn out to be someone's head?

[Mrrhhgh.]

Want to bet on it?

[Cause he's reaching in that bag for the surprise gift.]

[Snake bravely reaches in, annnnd -

Good news! Phil would have lost that bet.

Because Snake brings out...

A human hand.

(It's freezerburned)]

[Ok so Phil has seen a lot of shit while living in a time loop, seeing a frozen human hand is definitely new. Horrifying, but new.

Phil stumbles back as Snake takes the hand out.]

What the fuck is that doing in there?

[Hnnnrrgh.]

Someone tried to throw it away.

[It's a concerning situation, but Snake's managing to sound pretty detached.]

We're missing the rest, though.

[He's gonna gently put that hand down to the side for later and see if there's any more body parts in this trashbag?]

[Nope! All the other parts in here genuinely seem like they come from animals.

It's at this point that The Chef comes flying in.]

Sirs! Sirs, you cannot be in the freezer! It's very dangerous! Out, out!

[He instantly begins to shoo them away from the bag, putting the hand back in.]

[A large part of his mind tells himself that he shouldn't really do anything. After all it's not him who got murdered, and heck, who's to say that this isn't a weird dream?

But another part of him says he should say something. Not the altruistic part, mind you, but the part that realizes that he could very well be stuck in a building with a murderous staff.]

I'm not leaving until you explain to us what the hell is going on here! You don't just find human hands in hotels!

[You go, Phil. Snake's got his back, not allowing himself to be shooed away.]

It's one hell of a health code violation.

[One that needs a lot of explaining.]

It's part of the rats' food! Don't worry, they're properly frozen. Though we would never serve something so freezer burnt to our dear Guests, including the rats.

[As...As if that's the issue??? He quickly takes the bag and begins to head out of the freezer.]

I assure you, the body was not made one by our hands. Sometimes Guests have...altercations. Please, excuse me.

[And just like that....he's gone.]

The rats?! Are you telling me you feed shitty guests to the rats-?

[Fuck... that kinda describes him.

Well he's never trusting rats again.]

... Already I'm starting to wonder if staying in Punxsutawney would have been the better option for me

...Altercations, huh?

[That's all Snake has to say as the Chef scuttles out. He's a little mad that the hand was taken away.

Then, he turns back to Phil.]

Only wondering? [When there's people meat for rats amongst other things...] Punxsutawney really that bad?

Punxsutawney is hell on Earth. I would rather die than spend another day there.

[He looks at the freezer door.]

But at least I didn't have to worry about other people killing me there.

Hell on Earth?

[It's hard to tell if that's skepticism, judgement, or genuine curiosity.]

Couldn't be too bad if you didn't have to worry about that.

If you were in my shoes, you wouldn't be saying that. There are things worse than getting murdered.

[Maybe not the being fed to rats part.]

[Mnnrrhhhrh.]

You're not wrong there.
