INTRO LOG

Before you even open your eyes, you can tell something is not right. It's cold. Not quite unbearably so, but cold enough that you can take notice of it. And as soon as you open your eyes, you will be able to see why it's so cold: you're in the middle of a snowy forest, with only a single two-lane road cutting through the thick trees.

Unfortunately, you seem to be without transportation. Fortunately, you are wearing warm clothes and snow gear, so freezing isn't an immediate problem. But without transportation, you're in for a long walk ahead of you.

There are others around as well. Other people, just as lost and confused as you are. Everyone seems to be lacking any memory that might explain why everyone is here. As far as anyone knows, all of you were just ripped out of your previous lives and dumped here on this snowy road, wearing snow gear and having any items that are important to you already on hand. And for some of you, you even have a new power, one that you somehow instantly know how to use...

Two ways to go: forward and back. Despite having no indication of which way is the 'right' way, you feel drawn towards one direction in particular. Going 'back' is possible, but you get the feeling that you will be even more lost if you try. And given that you have no food or water on you, it's best to keep moving forward.

So, are you ready to walk? Because you have a long road ahead of you.

((Welcome to The Resort! Your characters will have any objects or animals with them that they should have given their canon point, but are dressed in cold weather clothing.

This prompt is just the first part of the intro log. New top-levels will go up over the course of the weekend as everyone progresses from 'where the hell am I?' to the resort proper, and to getting settled in. For now, just start with this prompt. We'll link further updates here for easy access.))

[Makoto is the first person to ask, and Minato actually hesitates a moment... before he just shakes his head.]

It's crazy to be here all of a sudden like this, isn't it...? I wasn't sure if I was dreaming, or...

[...WELL suffice to say, he really shouldn't be here.]

Maybe just asking wasn't the best way to find out, but it seemed like a good starting point.

[she frowns a little when he says that, though it's hard to read her expression in that moment. She seems to be thinking over what he's said.]

Mm... I see.

[that's all she says on that subject. but her expression shifts again and she offers a small smile and polite bow.]

I'm Makoto Niijima, by the way.

[Oh! Right. He bows back, expression settling into something more peaceful.]

I'm Minato. Minato Arisato. It's nice to meet you.

[Well, despite the circumstances...]

Honestly, it's a relief that I'm not the only one here. It'd be pretty confusing.

[A beat.

...]

... More confusing, I mean.

I understand what you're saying. It's already confusing enough.

[she glances at the road]

Do you feel the strong urge to go forward, by the way? At first I thought it was natural to want to keep moving forward. However, I have no clue why I know one direction is forward and the other goes backwards.

It doesn't make sense, given I don't remember coming here.

Yeah, I feel it too.

[He nods, seemingly pretty okay with it.]

I have to assume something's waiting for us at the end, if we're being encouraged to move forward. ["Forward".]

This doesn't look like very many places in Japan, does it?

I don't know. It's hard to tell with the snow-- we could be out in the mountains, or the country.

[the question is... does she trust this as a feeling that is hers... or something more..... haunting.

after all, the last thing they all need is to be possessed or haunted by a yurei.]

[But it was March...]

I guess so... I'm not very familiar with the countryside.

[Hm.]

All we can do is keep going, right...? If something crazy happens, we'll have to watch each other's backs. I think we'll be okay that way.

[it was december, don't worry. this makes total sense!]

I'm not familiar with them, either, honestly... Still. I suppose you're right and the only thing we have is this strange feeling.

And then he realizes it's cold and shoves his hand back into his pocket.]

So it could be worse. Let's keep going, and see what we can find.

[not all heroes wear gloves?

she... gives him a thumbs up back.]

[she pulls out a pair of brass knuckles.

[He's thrilled about the thumbs up back, honestly, though it doesn't show much on his face, but...

Holy shit those brass knuckles.

He's sorely missing his own weaponry now, but he didn't really have any of it on him, oops.]

Ah-- yes. You never know what's going to happen.

[He doesn't sound at all doubtful, though. Just kind of accepting.]

I hope we don't run into anything hostile around here.

[He is way too cold to fight, that'd be miserable.]

I hope so too but... Well, I'd rather be careful. [than proper. screw being the perfect student.]

Though... I don't know what I'll do if we run into wild animals.

[...Well.]
