But I could have been- I've had some nasty thoughts just like anyone else. I've considered how much easier it would be to hurt people to get what I want. I was offered power by something beyond my understanding back home and I was tempted.

Anyone can be a monster if the circumstances are right. We choose to be good people. We decide to be better- it's not some innate thing. Gaster made the choice to be like this- I don't want to spare him because he deserves it. I want to because I choose to not be him.
