THE FINAL MINGLE
Monday comes.
There's no one here. The Silence is....though you don't remember any other monsters, deep down inside of you, you know this is wrong.
Everything is open to you, and no one will complain. You can do whatever you want, now.
....somehow, it feels...awful.
Somehow, you know everything will come to an end...this week.

[He doesn't even look at Gil]

[ He knew the names. They weren't unfamiliar to him. Though to say he knew he would receive this kind of response would be inaccurate. ]
Who is to say that you still can't save her, even now? Do not be so foolish to presume this is the end. You've salvaged situations and made up for such previous failures before.

[He finally looks up, wincing as if Gilgamesh's light was painful to view.]
I don't know how. I don't know what to do-! How can you... how can you always be so sure about what you do...?

[ he'll be staring firmly at ren, golden eyes alight with anger. ]
If the odds are against us, it doesn't matter. If you don't know what to do, then that's fine as well. Because you're not alone, Ren. None of us are! And, while we're working together, we will make the odds turn in our favor. As the second-in-command of the Foundation, I will make this a reality.

To believe that if he falls then the world wouldn't end around him? It seems so strange, but with Solomon looking at him like that, with the others yanking him from the edge with such determination... how could he doubt?
He nods slowly and stands carefully, knees knocking and looking like a baby deer... looking so very young, but bit by bit steadying]
... then I'll follow wherever you lead, Solomon. I'll put my faith in you... and everyone else.
[A watery smile crosses his face]
So don't waste it, okay?

mostly out of a wish to keep whatever is left of ren's pride intact, but also because of his own awkwardness. gaining his trust...ren could not have given solomon something more precious.
he nods. ]
We will make our future with our own hands. I believe-- no, I know we have the power to do it. You have already proven it before.

Hold onto this for me though. I... don't trust myself with it.
[It's his phone]

[ he'll take it of course, but it's obvious that he looks confused. ]
Why?

If I use it to try and save her, she'll never forgive me.

He's going to appreciate all of this from here. ]

He's stared despair in the face so many times. That, really... ]
There was even a time when something like a trusted ability dared to tell me that only failure is in sight. But I pushed forward, confident in doing what had to be done, and in the end, I saw victory with the help of some unlikely allies.
[ The Singularity... ]
Following that, time and time again experience proved something to me. That something being 'why shouldn't I be so sure in what I do or what I am? Or that victory will come to us?' We've all achieved such things before in abysmal situations, so therefore I can only be sure that with this group, there's a high chance of success. Of course, that's naturally increased due to my presence, but I made my point.
Consider the phrase 'It is always darkest before dawn'. We've reached our dark hour, and now it is time for us to turn this situation around and kill that wretched being, as well as restore what was lost. My experiences have lead me towards this conclusion, and I've never been proven wrong.

[Between his words and Solomon's... his heart stiffens. Once, Joker had been his mask- a being of pure confidence and daring. But his life int eh Foundation had shaken that mask down to it's core.
But maybe, he could make that mask the real thing. Not because he wished it to be so, but because it WAS so- if he could depend on even a fraction of Gilgamesh's complete confidence, then what *couldn't* he do?
So between that and the others, he finally gets to his feet]
