Oh, I see... I'd heard fruits changed flavor over years, so I wasn't sure.

No, no, you're right. Fruits change flavor as part of evolutionary process, but I think at one point I stopped...well, caring how they tasted. I could never tell you how a date tasted 3000 years back or if it is any different from one now.
