It might, but being pushed in an unexpected way can expose it to making mistakes it wouldn't otherwise.

And what if the entity has only been jumping around like it has because we find out who the murderer is and it's part of the "rules" that it can't "double jeopardy" the same "character" twice?

If we refuse to uncover the truth... would that leave that person vulnerable to possession and killing again?
