Monday comes onto the snowy town once more, though it still looks as if it's 'night' as ever.

Then again, you are underground. That's just to be expected, considering no natural light can get down here in the first place. The Monsters around you are just as friendly as ever, though now there's far, far less of them.

Is time running out for the mission? How many more loops do you have?

...You feel as if something is watching you when you're not looking.

[The ores...are unusual. all of them have crystal formations sticking out of them - most are gray, but one or two glimmer in the same way the liquid in the core does, the colors shifting so palely it's hard to see.

The oven isn't on, but opening it will reveal a small bowl with a brightly glowing rainbow orb in it, as if they melted down a crystal and let it solidify. It shifts just as brightly as the core liquid, little flashes of white drifting over it just the same. It's possible to take it out of the dish, and it does nothing but be a very pretty crystal, though he gets the sense that if powers weren't off, he'd be able to feel something from it.

The Notes are scattershot, but numbered - it might be in dazai's best interest to put them in order, first.]

[ ...Gray for some and the few giving off a similar look to the Core's properties? He doubted it was a coincidence.

Uh, he'll just keep this orb for later when powers turn on, because maybe it'll prove useful for when he's able to actually sense magic and all that once more.

Out of just some idle curiosity, he'll head over to the bed. Somebody leave a diary behind or anything? ]

Let me know if you find anything worth looking at. A few orbs seem to have something in common with the Core, though it's hard to tell what other than their appearance.

[welp. time to put these pages in order. sifting them around and putting them on whatever surface will be easiest to do it on.]

Might be they're a fuel source? Or, is the Core the source and these are byproducts?

[The papers seem to be titled 'SPECTRA EXPERIMENTS.' The text is pretty academic, but they talk about how the crystals from a specific type of ore can be melted down at comparitively low temperatures.

In the past, the melted down crystals were used for glassware and containers, as it had the remarkable ability to contain magic easily, and was actually what the Containers housing the 6 human SOULs were made out of.

Later, it was realized that when kept in it's liquid form, Spectra could easily be converted into power for the entire underground through a very complicated process that neither men in the room could honestly understand.

However, it mentions that any person coming into contact with liquid spectra would immediately be melted down into it, and as such, it is incredibly dangerous.]

They may be the latter. There's this rainbow orb I found that could've also fit into that category.

[ If there's nothing going on with the bed or hidden under its covers, he'll come back over to the papers and data Dazai's looking at. ]

The former, it looks like. And this explains why falling into the Core is a bad idea.

[Well, there was one last little bit that I guess Gil gets to know now - a sidenote that Spectra only became studied once colors became part of the world, because then it was noticed that it flashes all of the known SOUL colors.]

[ ...Containers for 6 human SOULS, eh? Sounded like fun.

But he'll read, hearing what the other said, and then put down the information. ]

That it does. Hmph, what a 'coincidence' this Spectra became studied 'only when colors became part of this world due to flashing all SOUL colors'.

[ Anything else in this room that's off/interesting hanging around or that they managed to miss if he made one last canvass of it? ]

... so this is related to color in the world? Didn't Solomon say something about color in this world at some point?

Perhaps it's what he didn't say regarding this that you should question.

[ He smirked for a brief moment. Yeah Solomon's his boyfriend but Gilgamesh still thought he could work on his info-delivering!! ]

Regardless, this likely has to do with the fact that this world used to be in black and white or some other such nonsense. Then, 'the colors came'...honestly that too sounded like nonsense to me, and so I could care less about the details. Though it wasn't really discussed further than that other than that it occurred about eighty years ago.

It seemed with the progression of time they became easier to see properly as well, judging by that skeleton's words.

But this is implying that this place is using said color as a source of power and energy for this place. The monsters still being gray in their SOULs meaning that they're not affected by the color wholly.

Could that be part of the reason why they're disappearing? The entity is related to the SCP related to color?

...Perhaps, though the relation could be a distant one, and a happenstance due to what's composed of the CORE.

[ Considering the nature of everything, it was hard to say how it could've been involved with such a thing. Though he believed that there definitely had to be a connection, so the fact that there was a 'relation' had merit. ]

Even so, we still wouldn't know how the entity was 'stealing' their existence; though we can assume still that by doing so, it'd be doing the same as 'adding to it'. Like what would occur when or if someone came into contact with this liquid 'Spectra'.

What if the liquid Spectra is what's powering whatever we're going up against?

It's powering something down here. And we only started this sort of thing when we got underground, not before.

That would explain why it keeps trying to throw us in.

It's entirely possible. It's a powerful source of energy, though I doubt that it's an unlimited source.

We already know that it helps power the rest of this place as well...but those who live here seem ignorant of where it truly came from or what it's made up of. For all we know it could be residual energy from a mixture of SOULs.

[ ...Pause. ]

And I suppose it could be one reason why there's been such an effort to throw us in. After all, if we assume the source is finite, and is powered by something like let's say a SOUL, then we can only assume that it'll need a combination of both kinds of SOULs [ Human and a Monster's ] to continue existing or going on as it were.

Six containers for SOULs. The information from the books in the library... they've definitely tried getting these collected once before. But what's been going on has been a kind of pale imitation, right? Until Yoshi-kun, none of the SOULS were being kept.

Could it be an automatic system, then?

Either way, color is a necessity to keep this place alive.

That it has, and even the reason back then had been different. It makes me wonder if the entity behind all of this has a connection to someone who had been 'around' at the time of the 'original collection attempt'.

[ ... ]

It could be, but I doubt it. The intention behind this attempted collection seems far too strong for it to be something 'automatic' or 'mechanical'.

Though I imagine that 'color' wasn't necessarily always required for this place to exist or to be, it's doubtless that's changed by now.

[ It had implications for the future nonetheless. Because it was sounded more and more using 'Spectra' was a liability. ]

That first question is one to pose to someone we know who was there at the start.

As for the strength of it... you'd be surprised how powerful a force of habit or endless repetition is. People in the modern day don't think much about clocks, but the ticking of minutes dictate our every move in the normal world.

Something like that, maybe.

[ Solomon might have an idea of who was here around this time, he supposed.

...But, he'll give Dazai's words some further thought. ]

It can be rather difficult to change a habitual nature. Even moreso when it may be connected to its survival.
