[After so long a trip, you're all finally here. Taken through a hidden passage inside of the very mountain itself, you find yourself standing in front of a field of flowers, growing well due to the open roof above it. If you look up, you can just make out the shimmering colors off of the barrier - looking almost like the shine off of a soap bubble.

Try not to trample on the flowers as you approach the open, purple gate. And remember to wear your masks, now that you're here!

...Still, the sight of the yellow flowers waving in the wind....such a cheery sight fills you with determination for what's to come.

Welcome to the Underground.

...Again. The loop happened again, and you're here. Everything is the same.

Someone who was dead is alive again.

The trial...it was...you remember only up until Gilgamesh was FOUGHT against, and then...nothing.

You feel you shouldn't try to remember anything beyond that.

Not only that, But more monster names have faded from your memory.

It's for the best that you haven't. You're a gentle person, you shouldn't be thinking of terrorizing people.

But it's something to keep in mind. This thing could be hiding as a rock, or a book, or anything else here.

It would be nice. But I suspect the soul colors will matter for something else here. Details like that don't pop up unless they matter.

Several months, yes. Since January, though by now I have lost track of what month it should be on the outside.

...can you explain what the Core is for me? And... where the colors come from, if you know.

[backspacing]

I don't know much about soul colors, personally. Just that humans will have a color for their souls, while monsters have white ones.

The Core is the power source for the Underground. It isn't strictly electricity, though. Energy down here is more like magical energy. So it can provide lighting, but it does so much more too.

The Core is very, very dangerous for that reason. Touching a raw power source is a very bad idea.

[She takes a deep breath.]

Um. Is. Is the Core... raw human SOULS?

[backspacing]

...I want to say 'no', since I think it's just the raw power of a volcano. But given everything that has happened, it could be.

It's rainbow and... and that thing keeps trying to throw us and Monsters into it.

[backspacing]

[She just. Rubs at her face with her hand.]

It might actually be SOULS, then.

[Quietly:]

I... I was really hoping you'd tell me that was a wild conclusion to jump to, Miss Red.

[backspacing]

[She smiles sadly.]

Would a false hope like that be better for you?

...no. I'm just... not sure what hope to replace it with, just yet.
