The hallways are seemingly empty of ghosts, even the vessels themselves having gone silent. The Miasma hangs in the air, as if waiting for your decision.

Not sure about all of it, but pretty early on, Giovanni-kun was upset my ability blocked any healing abilities, so he tried to "steal my epithet". It didn't work because negation versus negation, but...
