RECORDING 14: THE FIFTH MURDER.

A fifth week, and this is now definitely routine. Waking on friday, with the knowledge deep down that your number has yet again decreased.

You must still pull yourself from your bed, and discover who is now forever gone.

The Miasma is choking, almost triumphant as you search the hallways -

looking for the ones that have had their lives cut short so cruelly...

Right, of course.

[ He wants to, but... m-maybe he can get there without asking outright, because there's less risk of a hard "no" that way!! ]

...I'm really glad you're still here, you know.

Oh? [ His smile grows sweeter and he leans forward. ]

I'm glad you're still here too.

Ah...

[ His face was red from crying already anyway, so maybe the flush of his cheeks at that isn't as obvious as it might be. He can't help smiling at least a little bit at that in spite of everything, and wipes some residual dampness from his eyes on the back of his hand. ]

I was kind of hoping you were.

[kaliedoscopes]

[ A small laugh, light, bubbly. ]

Is there anything else you're hoping for?

[reanimania]

[ Maybe that laugh should seem a little incongruous to him, but now he has that question to focus on-- ]

Um...

[ He bites his lip for a moment and shifts his gaze away. ]

Maybe if... you could sit here next to me? Just... for a little bit.

[ Giovanni isn't going to hug him again, and for the first time this week, he finally feels a little cold. ]

Hmm...sure. [ A second later he hops off the desk and walks over to the bed and sits down. The distance between them isn't too close, but it's far close than he'd sit normally. Once he's settled in, he leans back a little onto his hands. ]

Not for too long, I'll fall asleep. [ A yawn—he had a busy night and then a busy morning and he has an even busier day tomorrow. ]

[ ARE YOU ENJOYING LOOKING UP THERE AT BATTLER'S BUNK...

It actually does strike him a little odd this time how unbothered he sounds by all of this, but... he's sure it's fine. After all, maybe it just sounds that way to him because he's so upset himself. If Hikage hadn't been close to either of the victims, it's not so weird, right? Saphir hadn't cared that much in most of the previous weeks himself, so he'd probably sounded about the same...? ]

Y-yes, that's fine. I don't mind.

[ It's... not as close as he would have liked, but it's closer. It's still nice. ]

In Hikage's defense he's never been too bothered by any of the murders...last week was the exception, but a lot happened there and a lot happened after and we don't talk about it pretty much.

He brushes the thank you aside, though he does smile in reciprocation if Saphir looks over. ]

Really? You'd let me sleep in your bed?

Huh? I-I didn't mean it that way! You'd just get teleported away anyway, so...

[ He looks down and fidgets with the hem of his sleeve. ]

...I wouldn't mind, though. If you wanted to.

Even if you could only enjoy me for a second, huh. [ How the hell he manages to say this with a straight face is testament to his otome powers. Mostly straight anyway because there's an amused gleam in his eyes. ]

[ ...W-wait, what is "enjoy" supposed to mean here? ]

That's not what I...

[ --What if by saying that, he's the one jumping to conclusions here, though?? So he just... trails off into a vague questioning noise. ]

[ Welcome to otome hell but lucky Saphir's stay in it will be short. ]

Hm? You said you wanted to spend some time with me. [ Here he actually lets himself fall back on the bed with a light huff. ]

[reanimania]

I do!!

[ Practically leaning over him here to make sure his sincerity is seen!! ]

I just don't want it to sound like I mean something weird!

Something weird...ah, is that how your mind works? [ One eye closed now, he quirks a brow. ]

[reanimania]

[ please he's had enough internal screaming for one day already ]

No!!

[ Looking legitimately concerned about this... ]

[kaliedoscopes]

I'm glad you're not like Date. [ And that does sound genuine. He closes his other eye, apparently satisfied by this entire exchange. He doesn't vanish from the bed immediately, but he might just do that sooner rather than later. ]

[ ? It sounds like a compliment, anyway, so... ]

...I guess I am too, then.

[ ...

He honestly kind of wants to just lie down next to him. He's tired himself, and his eyes hurt.

...But he doesn't. He'll just sit there in something of a haze and feel grateful for what he still has right now. ]

Good. [ He's content to let the silence carry, though in the space in between he winds up rolling over closer to Saphir. It's probably nice for the minute or two before he actually falls asleep and gets yeeted to his room but.

Considering tomorrow, that's probably for the best. ]
