From the white lights, the darkness comes...

Today's trial was a mixture of regret, anger, guilt, and second-thoughts. Perhaps some people realized that situations and choices weren't to be black or white. However, decisions were made, and whether it'd be through people keeping secrets or causing a ton of chaos...everyone could probably agree on one thing:

They've made their choices and no matter what happened in the coming days, they will lie in the beds they made for themselves. Whatever that should mean for each and every single person still living here.

That being said, there's still new choices to make. In the days to come, what will those be?

Of course, I did. I don't agree with... a lot. But I never considered it a personal thing. And you went through a lot today.

I mean, it wasn't very hard. He was pretty surprised though.

I don't think I've ever heard of a cat hitting people... I thought they'd do more biting and stuff.

[ he chuckles a little as he pets sissel more. ]

It's just that I'm...not sure what will happen from now on. When Ango becomes the Vessel. I'm...worried.

Things are going to happen really fast, I think.

Yeah....

[ he slides a little farther down the wall he's resting on, gaze pained. ]

That's what I'm worried about.

We'll do what we can. Live or die, it is what it is. I refuse to give up until then.

[He eyes Romani]

You might not be able to treat people easily anymore, with just one arm. But that doesn't change that you need to try and live too.

You refuse to give up, even in this situation?

[ romani tilts his head to the side a little--as much as his injury allows him. ]

Aren't you scared? Of the situation?

Of course I am. I fought hard to get my life back, I'm terrified of losing it again. But... if the odds are this high that I'm going to die no matter what, well...

The one thing they can't take from me is my pride.

[ that is... actually quite the answer, sissel. romani looks at the cat with wide eyes, almost as if he hadn't expected that.

...Do you think that the others feel the same way?

I can't say. Maybe it's just because I've died before- it's not really natural to think of 'how' you die mattering. It's instinct to try and survive no matter what, right?

[ he hesitates in answering, deep in thought. almost as if he doesn't really know what the answer is. ]

I guess it is. That would be why Subete did all of that, no? He wanted to survive and die on his own terms. And that's also why Ango fought back the way he did...because he didn't want to die.

Yeah. Humans like to think they're above that kind of thing. But they're not really that different from other animals. The difference is that humans have these complicated webs of fate and relationships- things like 'dying well' that doesn't matter for the rest of us can change a lot in their worlds.

That's something I learned when I was a 'human' for a night.
